Plateau Fudge

Okay, as for the Evil in my Fridge - previous blog - I have faultered but not badly!

I suppose for the hard core and determined among you, any faultering is bad. However 4 pieces in a tray of approximately 50 is a far cry from the way I’m used to faultering. Past faultering would have been at least 48 pieces and a resolve to make more…and then fautering on those too until I was all sugared up.

I’ve hit a plateau. I also think I know the cause. Not nearly enough cardio. I haven’t done cardio for about 3 weeks but I have been doing weights. I’m hoping that I’ll lose some more bodyfat pretty quickly when I can convince myself to do some cardio again - or when I have the time. Work’s being a b!tch lately with no lunch and 2hrs overtime every day for a while now.

The electricity was on today and I did my gym (abs - no weights on today’s routine) in good light this morning.

I’m taking Argentine Tango lessons! My second lesson was last night. It was surprising how much of a cardio workout that was. My chest was rather stiff and a little tender from the Bench Presses yesterday morning. They’re a little more tender again today - tender in that good, I’ve worked them way. I love that feeling.

Tickle made an evil Italian dessert. It’s fudge like and wicked! I’m affraid I can’t tell you what’s in it because merely looking at the ingredients would cause fat gain and cholesterol problems. :P This is very bad news because it’s possibly the most tempting thing in the house right now. I’m not sure how well I can resist it. :(

Gym by candle light.

First day of my gym week - 5 day routine and I get to do it by candle light. Thankfully one doesn’t need electricity to lift weights.

Yes, I did pay my water & lights bill. Yes, I did check the tripswitches on the inside board and the main board outside. Yes, the fault does lie with our local municipality. Yes, this is a regular occurance in this country so I was prepared. :) I lit the hurricane landtern I keep above the fridge for just such emergencies and did my gym like a good boy anyway - by candle (hurricane landtern) light anyway. It was very romantic with the clinking metal, the sweaty, soon-to-be-hot body and the flickering light.

The unromantic side of this was when I opened my lunch tin and discovered that besides the lettuce, chicken bits, tomato and one single lonely olive, there was also little black bits. On investigation which included a tentative prod, sniff and taste, it was established that these added ingredients were bits of wick from the landtern since I had to use it for light whilst making lunch too!

Oh, well. Maybe tomorrow I’ll be able to gym in the glaring light of electric power again and if not, there’s always the loving glow of the landtern…

Define normal…

Finally I’m headed into a ‘normal’ week. Who knows though, it could turn abnormal at any moment! The bad eating habits of last week are still lingering as can be seen on my weight goals. It’s going to take a bit for the gyming to kick in again and burn all that out of my system - I’m guessing about 3 days. That’s how long it usually takes.

Hopefully by Thursday or Friday I’ll start seeing that 78.2kg again. Then it’s the push for a 77kg reading.

Not too severe

All in all, after the rather difficult time, I didn’t put on too much extra weight! I have this cool scale that works out your body fat by measuring electrical resistance through your body. My body fat is 30.1%. My girl’s brother and his girlfriend don’t even register on the scale. It gives an error which according to the manual means they are over 50% bodyfat! Now that’s scary!

I have to see 77kgs soon. I desperately want to be in the 77kg bracket. Even with 77.9kg’s I’d be happy again!

Injured bum.

I don’t have a decline ab exercizing bench-type-thing so I improvise. I have a bench with these elasticized things to supply resistance instead of weights (yeah, right) but what I do is tie down the leg extension bit so that it can’t move. I then prop up the leg extension part and there you have it - a makeshift decline ab bench thingy!

As you can tell, it’s really not made for this purpose and well, as a result of going at those ab exercizes like a rabbit on heat resulted in me bruising, blistering & chaffing my bottom at the coccyx. Technically it’s more the top of the sacrum, but some may think I’m using dirty words if they don’t know their skeletal system. :)

This cheeky little abrasion (pun intended) has put a serious dent in my ab training. Next time I’ll be sure to use some extra padding for my boney butt and no there’s no way I’m submitting pictures no matter how funny you think it is!

A downward spiral.

…and as you get into the swing of things all hell brakes loose!

I managed to find some bodyfat measuring calipers at a reasonable price and an EZ bar is in the budget! Yay! :) My routine was going nicely along at a pleasant pace then comes the hard times that throws everything I’ve just now written out of the window - sorta. A death in the family :(

I know I’m in for a rollercoaster ride. It’s expected at such major events. If it weren’t so, the event would have been insignificant but it isn’t. At this stage I simply see how it goes - go with the flow. If I can fit a workout in, I fit it in. If I miss a workout, I miss it. Next week things should begin resembling normality and routine again. For now I take it as it comes.

weekend Not-so-bliss

Damn! Darnit-drat!

I’ve picked up weight again! Too many bad carbs is what I’m thinking - also too much booze and too big food portions. I have to watch those portions more closely and that bad carb-starch situation.

Oh, well. I’ll get it right. I will get there! I’ve been looking at suppliments and such, but I’m loath to take them. A few years ago I took a ‘fat trapper’ in conjunction with a ‘fat burner’ (I can’t remember the makes) but what I do recall quite vividly is that I put on a massive amount of weight! Not the effect I was looking for. Hence my reluctance.
