Its not wrong, it's just that a lot of supplements are total **** and its hard to trust a product because so many are misleading or don't work. However from experience some do. There is no standardization and no real proof/evidence for the benefits of a lot of the supplements on sale today. Whey protein does work and so do a lot of weight gain products but they are the basic ones. The rest have very specific uses and should be used accordingly however the claims the manufacturers tell you why you need them can be dubious. Supplementing can be a real melting pot. At the end of the day there is a lot of hard sell for little return.

Whey=Yes
Weight gain=Some better than others
Creatine=OK it works if you can get along with it i.e. headaches, bowel problems from some brands.

You have to take supplements eventually if you want to reach and exceed your potential. Your body doesn't have enough of its own creatine, protein, vitamins, compounds to build and maintain as much muscle as you want to build.
