"do you really wanna be that big?" …That was the question given to me to ponder for a brief moment as i stood there purchasing a venti coffee at the barnes and noble starbucks.
The cashier was a young woman about my age , early 20’s , average body neither attractive nor unattractive, the kind of person you can easily forget about forever. I was completely unaware that this harmless little question would stay with me forever and have such a profound effect on my life.

So.."do you really wanna be that big?" i repeated to myself , i looked down at the cover of the muscular development i was about to read , and with a clear vision of what i really wanted , a true revelation had happened instantly within me…I answered… "YES , yes i do". This tiny little phrase resonated deep inside me reigniting the drive , the completely uninhibited ambition with which i started training yrs ago that has been lost.

The girl not having the slightest clue what is going on in my mind then reciprocates "eww thats too big , you’re perfect now" Im now visibly exstatic , my smile is ear to ear and i couldnt hide my teeth to save my life. Not because she’d paid me this compliment but because she had even further re-affirmed in me my drive to SUCCEED , to do what it takes no matter what , TO NOT FORGET MY DREAMS that we so easily forget as we get older……"NO WAY" i said , firmly "i want to be bigger , BETTER.. i know i can" then i winked at her and said thanks, she thought it was for the compliment she gave me…but she’ll never know the conviction she gave me that seemingly normal day at barnes and noble starbucks , hardly the place for bodybuilding motivation.

DO YOU TRAIN?

i dont lift weights , i dont workout and i dont exercise….i train…

anybody can go into the gym and try to lift the heaviest thing they can lift and call it weightlifting

anybody can go into the gym and do a circuit program and call it working out

anybody can go to the gym and do 30 min of aerobics and crunches and call it exercise

few can go into the gym and say they train….what is trainning…training has purpose , training means you have set goals , training means you want it bad with every fiber of your body, training means you have the determination to get to the gym on those days you’d rather stay home and be lazy, training means you have discipline and a vision of what you’re going to accomplish and doing whatever it takes to get it done, NO EXCUSES, because you know excuses are for the weak.

Training means each and every day you’re in YOUR gym there’s nothing else , just you versus the pain and who’s going to win is up to you and only you because the pain can’t make you quit , only you let yourself quit. Training means you know you’ve given everything you had and more knowing you’ve won another day………

Without those of us who train , no one would know what weightlifting , working out or exercise even is…….So here’s to the ATHLETES who TRAIN everyday ….we are all brothers and sisters of pain who endure

DO YOU TRAIN?

TOP TEN ANNOYING BODYBUILDING QUESTIONS

The Following are frequent questions i get asked either at the gym or by people anywhere out in public, bars and clubs.

10. "Whats a good routine for biceps , i really want big arms?"

this usual comes from someone who barely weighs 150 lbs , but of course he’s "ripped" now he just needs arms and he s perfect . BTW 2/3’s of ur arm is TRICEP

9. "What do you take?" with the obvious wink wink signifying "know what i mean"

This one speaks for itself, is usually the very FIRST questions they ask and they dont even kno ur name yet. i have no intention wasting time with u discussing what u think is bodybuilding

8. ‘How do i get in better shape?but i dont wanna be big like you , i just wanna look "cut"’

You’re RIGHT, because after i give u my advice ur gonna wake up tommorrow TOO HUGE…never mind it took me 7-8 yrs to get where i am , ur obviously a geneticly gifted phenom and will grow muscle by simply looking at weights.

7. "how do i lose this belly fat? , thats all i wanna lose"

Meanwhile this same person is eating a mcgriddle and hashbrowns with a nice big sugar and cream topped with a lil coffee. At least they re starting small with the belly fat , after that we can work on that THIRD CHIN.

6. "What muscles does that exercise work?"

Immidiately after u hear this u go into shock for a brief moment realizing someone could not kno what (insert one: SQUATS , DEADLIFTS , OR BENCHING) works.

5. "Excuse me, can u please not drop the weights?"

This comming from the 90 lb 40yr old female personal trainer who is an expert in training girls and senior citizens. Next time i finish my 4th set of dropset dumbbell press ill be sure to place them quietly on the ground.

4. "Excuse me , can i work in?"

Now im not selfish with my equipment , but when its apparent that im working out fairly quickly , the person (male or female) with matching outfit of course decides to multi-task in the gym and picks up their cell during the set and continues to do a 5 minute set while discussing the ever important "whos ****ing who" conversation at the gym(just the place for it right), i might get a lil annoyed.

3. "Excuse me , can u put the weights back?"

This one is actually valid and IS GOOD GYM ETTIQUETE , but sometimes im just too ****in lazy and tired and really dont wanna bother lolol

2. "Why do u go so low when u squat?"

Im not going to explain this one , and if u dont get it , then ur one of them!!!!!!!!

finally the number one annoying question i get asked

1. "How do i get my abs ripped , what kind of crunches are best to get a six-pack , and if i do crunches everyday can i have abs by NEXT WEEK cuz im goin on vacation to the bahamas and i wanna look good?"

if uve ever asked this question , and i kno alot of u have……HERE’S MY FINAL ANSWER , IF U WANT ABS BY NEXT WEEK ITS SIMPLE , BECOME ANOREXIC AND BULEMIC AND ONLY DRINK WATER WHEN U FEEL LIKE UR GONNA FAINT…..( dont actually do this u dumbasses i was just venting)

thanks for reading my lil rant…hopefully some of u have learned that u should ask more intelligent questions.
