So much for bulking….
I’m pretty down right now. I’ve been having issues with a "cyst" in one of my wrists for several months. It had been diagnosed as a ganglian cyst which is very common…the 1st step was a steroid injection into the knot on the back of my wrist. My orthopedic sugeon said if that didn’t work, they would go in and take it out. Simple outpatient procedure that would put me in a restrictive wrist brace for a week or two. The injection didn’t help, so I went in today believing that the outpatient procedure would be our next step. My surgeon said that the "cyst" did not show up on my MRI and that surgery might possibly be a waste of time. My best bet was to stay away from the activities that aggrevate it…which is work and working out. I asked if I should continue to wear a brace when working out and he asked if I lifted free weights. He said that I should avoid them and use nautilus equipment that doesn’t require a tight grip. I told him I couldn’t take free weights out of my workout so he gave me a brace to wear which totally incapacitates my wrist.
Obviously, I wanted the procedure so I could be done with this whole thing. My wrist aches and I get sharp pains when my hand is extended. It has been affecting my workout, especially now. But the orthopedic surgeon I’m going to is a hand and wrist specialist, so I pretty sure he knows what he’s talking about. GRRRRRRR!!! Why can’t it just be a simple thing. I hate this playing it by ear thing with no defined end. The lack in heavy lifting and movement limitation is really going to set my upper body back. Guess I might be doing swimsuit comps next season instead of figure comps.
Thanks for coming to my pity party! Sorry I forgot the alcohol

Ya know - it’s not for everyone, but I had an issue going on with my ankle and saw a traditional doctor through my insurance. My ankle still didn’t get better so I went to a running doc/ chiropractor and acupuncturist who essentially did the opposite of what my did and I’ve been running since! Granted, it took about 3 weeks of therapy and who knows if it’ll maintain or if my ankle acts up again, but so far it’s working. Just a thought… hope your cyst goes away eventually!

Thanks for the kind words and the advice. I’m already feelin better mentally. The one good thing is that while I’m wearing that brace contraption, I should be getting schitloads of pity point! LOL

I’d say just try to grit through it, but my wrist acts up all the time, so do my knees. so I just take it easier those times and that seems to work. hope it all works out so you can work out

The only concern I’d have about gritting thru it, is that I am afraid it might further aggrevate the problem. I can do moderate workouts in the brace. We shall see how it does tomorrow
