Stay lean or add muscle ?
Sunday, August 26th, 2007I definitely want to add more muscle. And to do that you must lift heavy (Put stress on the muscle to make it grow) and eat more (to feed the muscle).
I do lift very heavy. (1 or 2 muscle grp/day, heavy wts, 4-5 exercises for that muscle, 4-5sets, 8-10reps). I also do old-school Military - Push-ups, Pull-ups "Behind the Neck", BB walking lunges, Trail running all the time, etc.
And I know you have to eat more to feed the muscle. But when I eat, I just get bloated.
If I stay at 105-109lbs, I’m lean and my abs look good. (eating a limited amt of cals - workout, post shake, tuna + spinach, snack on fruit, tuna + spinach again, or chicken, etc). I DO NOT drink milk, or any dairy products. I can stay lean, but cannot add muscle at the same time w/out gaining fat and becoming bloated.

I know the scale or numbers do not mean anything, but for me it does. If I go over 110lbs, I do become bloated….. I do notice the separation in my abs are gone. I can tell how my body looks and feels, when my wt goes up.
Is it possible to stay lean and add muscle at the same time?
It’s probably inevitable ….. Along w/ gaining muscle, you will gain some fat.
