Stay lean or add muscle ?
I definitely want to add more muscle. And to do that you must lift heavy (Put stress on the muscle to make it grow) and eat more (to feed the muscle).
I do lift very heavy. (1 or 2 muscle grp/day, heavy wts, 4-5 exercises for that muscle, 4-5sets, 8-10reps). I also do old-school Military - Push-ups, Pull-ups "Behind the Neck", BB walking lunges, Trail running all the time, etc.
And I know you have to eat more to feed the muscle. But when I eat, I just get bloated.
If I stay at 105-109lbs, I’m lean and my abs look good. (eating a limited amt of cals - workout, post shake, tuna + spinach, snack on fruit, tuna + spinach again, or chicken, etc). I DO NOT drink milk, or any dairy products. I can stay lean, but cannot add muscle at the same time w/out gaining fat and becoming bloated.

I know the scale or numbers do not mean anything, but for me it does. If I go over 110lbs, I do become bloated….. I do notice the separation in my abs are gone. I can tell how my body looks and feels, when my wt goes up.
Is it possible to stay lean and add muscle at the same time?
It’s probably inevitable ….. Along w/ gaining muscle, you will gain some fat.

Hey, girl Looking good! Check out this little tool:
http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm
I used it to calculate my daily cals for bulking and for loosing fat. PLUS, you can play around with different macro ratios. I found out that for me 45P-35P-20F. Once I upped the protein to 60% a day to gain mass faster, and instead got bloated and had gas all the time:) So, I came to find out that your food ratios are just as important as overall cal intake. Lemme know if that’s helpful.

YOU CAN STILL GAIN MASS WITH YOUR CURRENT MEAL PLAN, BUT BECAUSE OF YOUR CURRENT DAILY CALORIE INTAKE ISN’T AS HIGH AS "MASS STAGE" IT’S GOING TO BE A WHILE BEFORE YOU SEE RESULTS. BUT IN DO TIME "GI", YOU’LL GET THERE..

Good idea to add some muscle. Can’t wait to see the results!! Remeber the wider the back. The smaller the waist looks!!

hey, I was trying to add weight too. I think most of it will have to hold until after my show in November. I just have to keep telling myself that it’s for the greater good (bigger legs, yeah!!). I am going to try to clean bulk, I don’t want to be one of those fat bulkers who has to drop 30 lbs every season. Damn, dudes and their testosterone……gaining is a bitch for us.a

Hey T,
Let me know if it helps. Tink
You can try adding in calories slowly, like if you eat 1500 calories add another 100-200 for the first week so you’re eating 1600-1700 a day, then the next week another 100-200 more until you are were you should be to gain mass without fat. I keep a daily journal of lifting and eating so if I gain any fat I can go back and see what I was doing and make adjustments. I keep a close eye on it so I don’t gain much fat. If I gain any fat I can up my cardio and back off of the food just a little. And increasing slowly should also help your body adjust and hopefully you won’t bloat

To be honest I think you look amazing, but I know our bodies are always a-work-in-progress! I reckon Tink had a sensible answer for you. When it comes to bloating I used to suffer with that big time and found I have a food intolerance. I use Kefir in the morning and afternoon which is a live bacteria I make every morning. Seemings you don’t use milk or dairy why don’t you try a good strong probiotic (capsule form) from a health food store. Udo’s choice is a strong’un and that could cure what ails yah! Leila.
