Need some help!

September 22, 2008

I am finally back on track (just needed to get my butt in gear)! And now I’m focused on preparing for a photo shoot (for marketing purposes for personal training). I’ve never done a photo shoot before and need some help! Any input and advice would be great. I’ve looked on bodybuilding.com (the best) and gotten some ideas . . .  but don’t know what to do about well, everything (clothing, shoes, make-up, hair, accessories, diet, extra cardio)!

Also need some advice about skin. I know that usually the darker you are, the better. Well, I am african-american and my complexion is about caramel, but I’ve been told that I should still either tan or use a tanning product. So anyone who has some advice and experience on this would be great!

Also what to do about water, tried Xpel, and didn’t like it at all. Or do I just cut back on water all-together.

So, obviously ANY help would be great. I just would like to know in advance so I can research and be ready and prepared! Thanks everyone!

Reality Check!

September 18, 2008

So in the last couple of weeks I have finally decided to focus on me again. I haven’t been on bodyspace in a while (which is bad for me because all of you help keep me focused and committed), but I’m finally back now! I’ve had so much going on with my little one, relationships (don’t get me started), work, family . . . it’s like on crisis after another. But I am back to getting my butt in shape (literally:-)

So a dear friend of mine (Cathy I love you:-), gave me a Tanita scale today. It reads your BF and weight and helps you keep track. SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO, before I left work today, I did an awesome cardio session. 5 mins on recumbent bike to warm-up, 15 mins on stepmill (level 9 and boy was I sweatin’), 15 mins on treadmill (3.6 pace incline between 10-15), 5 mins of bike to cool down. It was great! I really pushed myself . . . so much that I felt like I was gonna throw up . . . I was so excited!

Then I got home and got on the scale and had a reality check :-( I was so upset, but then I remembered how hard I worked and that I’m focused and my body is gonna be BANGIN BABY!

So I had my reality check, but I’m ready . . . so let’s do this!

Are there any killer leg workouts?!

October 28, 2007

I have been trying to commit to a consistent lifting program . . . I get bored so easliy, that I change what I do from week to week. But i’m wondering that if maybe I do the same things for at least two weeks I may be able to measure my progress more acurately.  My shoulders and arms are making great progress. My legs however, another story.  I have been wracking my brain, trying to come up with a KILLER leg workout that will help give me the separation between hamstrings and glutes, and lean out my thighs just a little without killing my knees. I’ve had surgery on both of my knees and they bother me often. So I have to be very careful . . . BUT I can’t ignore my legs! LUNGES ARE OUT OF THE QUESTION . . . especially walking lunges which most everyone suggest . . . they are soooooooooooo painful. I can only do so many squats without my knees asking me what the hell is going on. Leg press? . . . I’m so bored with it, and I can only lift so heavy without pain.  I’ve done every variation of deadlifts known to man . . . what must I do! Plyos are out of the question if I want to be able to walk! Well, I guess it’s either back to mediocrity or my brain is gonnna have to come up with something fabulous, so that I can finally have those KILLER LEGS!
