Training Ideas

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

So I’m in the process of coming up with a new workout for myself and would like to try some new exercises and need your help!!!! I’ve heard and seen a Clean and Press, I’ve also heard of a Hang Clean (but don’t know what that is). Can anyone give me some ideas or variations of these exercises or maybe videos to look at . . . From what I’ve been told It pretty much works everything! Thanks guys! God Bless!

My True Inspiration!

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Hey everyone! I’ve been wanting to write this particular blog for days now! So here it is . . . Just wanted to write a little post about my Saturday! My church annually holds a womens conference and this year our first lady (Elder Vanessa Long) concluded the conference with her 5k Run/Walk. This years 5k brought awareness to HIV/AIDS and cancer! I decided to the run months ago and wanted my mother, sister, and son to join in. My sister decided to walk . . . my mother wasn’t so sure. (I’ve been trying to get my mom to workout for a few years now . . . not too long ago she had a bone density test done and they told her she was boderline osteo . . . she asked for a workout and told me I didn’t need to say "I told you so," yet she hasn’t done much). ANYWAY, I thought it would be great for all of us to participate. When I mentioned it so my son . . . he was so thrilled . . . he’s one of the most competative human beings alive and he’s only 6! I think he kinda forgot about it . . . but when I reminded him the Wednesday before he was ready! I put him to bed early Friday, because the run started at 7am! I woke him up before the sun came up and he was not too happy with me . . . but when I reminded him why he was up so early and that it was for a good cause . . .  he started getting ready quickly. My son just knew he could run the WHOLE time, and I told him he didn’t have to but he should try! My sister and mom stayed back, because they were walking! So when the gun went off . . . so did we. I know I’m his mom, so of course I’m a little partial . . . but he did so awesome. We ran the first 1.5 miles and he had to walk for a few minutes but then told me he had caught his breathe and was ready to run again. He actually ran most of the way. His face was bright red, and he was breathing hard . . . but he kept going! We were so close to the finish line (about 3/4 of a mile left) and he told me he had to walk . . . my baby was sooooooooooooo tired! But he held my hand and I pulled him a little, but when he caught sight of the finish line he told me we had to run . . . and that we did . . . we sprinted all the way to the end! I was so proud of him . . . and you could see the excitement written all over his face! I smile everytime I think about it! In so many ways he has been my inspiration to work hard, keep going, and never give up . . . and now he is my inspiration in another way! It’s encouraging to see children love sports and competition of that type when childhood obesity is becoming so common. I feel blessed that I have a little one who loves doing push-ups with Mommy, and holding planks until we’re shaking. Darion . . . Mommy just wants to say . . . you are my true inspiration "sugar bear!"

New Ideas

So . . . I tried a new workout today . . . I like to concept of it . . . just need to add somethings to push myself harder. So I am going to try something new and see how my body responds . . . at this point, I don’t want to add any more muscle, just keep what I have and lean out . . . I don’t enjoy cardio but know I need it, so here’s my plan . . . Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays do a circuit workout for an hour, non-stop, I need to breathe, (maybe throw-up) butt-kickin’ circuit! On Tuesdays and Thursdays I will focus on core exercises and suck it up and do cardio for 45minutes and stretch for 30mins. I will do this for 4 weeks and see what I get. Then do a week of Mon., Wed., and Frid., lifting weights workout (2-3 exercises per body part, 3-4 sets, etc.), same thing Tuesday and Thursday. Then take a week off from strength training and focus on cardio, stretching, and yoga! Here goes my journey! Much love and God Bless!

Reality Check!!!

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Okay . . . so today I decided to pull out my digital camera and take some pics! I actually did a photo shoot last week, but haven’t got a CD of the images and the ones the photographer took were mostly face pics and not what I was looking for . . . so I decided to just do some progress pics . . . (after some encouragement) . . . And well, all I can say is that was all I need for some motivation . . . I mean . . .  I don’t think I look horrible, and I can see that I have made some progress . . . but I know what I looked like before I had my son . . . and I want to look even better (before my pregnancy I was alright . . . 5′8 size 8, but no definition anywhere really)  . . . I know what my body is capable of . . . or at least I’m gonna find out! I’ve made the most progress with my back . . . it’s looking better than I thought . . . but my arms are slacking . . . and my legs . . . well we won’t go there . . . I think now I will do progress pics either every two or four weeks to help me really stay focused. Anyway, gotta tend to my little one . . . I will be uploading progress pics in the next hour! God Bless!
