Hello World!!!
Just found this site and it looks to be right up my alley! I have always been into fitness, but it has always been a long, uphill battle! Some people don’t really have to work to be fit. They eat right and do a little exercise and they look great. Genetics in my family are not so kind. Obesity runs rampant in my family… thyroid problems, diabetes, liver problems, etc. So if I even think of having a piece of cake I gain 10 pounds as punishment. And if I miss a day at the gym, my muscle disappears. I had surgery a few years ago, and that was the worst! I lost all of my muscle tone in a matter of weeks. And it took six full months of heavy work-outs to regain it. Life is just not fair sometimes! But fitness is such a way of life to me that I don’t really think about not doing it.
Good luck to everyone!

Considering what you’ve said about your families genetics, you look amazing. You must put in a lot of hard work and be very disciplined.

I’m with ya on genetics. Both parents were Type II diabetics, & my older brother became Type II at an age younger than I am now. I inherited my mother’s metabolism, who was obese most of her adult like, along with high blood pressure, heart problems/heart attack, etc.
The silver lining: It forces me to be intentional with diet & exercise, so that I’m in better shape than 95% of my peers (47).

hey there!
I hear you on fighting an uphill battle to stay fit. I have to be super strict, as well, and I completely envy those who can just eat right, do a little exercise, and VOILA — as well as those who can eat junk, exercise a lot, and have the same effect.
I am one of those people who isn’t, by genetic code, meant to be slim. I have a larger-than-average bone structure, gain weight in both my face and stomach first *EUGH*, and have struggled with my weight on and off since middle school.
When it comes to leaning out/cutting, I have a different problem: type 1 diabetes. I have to be really careful with my diet to make sure my blood sugars don’t go crazy (too little insulin = high blood sugar AND while that DOES mean weight loss, it isn’t healthy and is potentially damaging to the body, too much insulin = hypoglycemia = unnecessary carbs to make sure my sugar comes up before I, like, faint or something = FAT!)
Oh well, though. I am STILL going to compete and WIN *GRAWR!*
And YOU look GREAT.
you have done an excellent job on fighting the obstacles of genetics, indeed!
