As of today I have been back in the gym for 5 weeks. I can already tell things have chaged. Today I had to chase my little boy through the mall (think 2 year old Olympic sprinter). I never got winded. Six weeks ago I would have been huffing and puffing as soon as I started running after him. My body has changed. All of my muscles are harder and shirts are looking better on me. Prior to this most of my pants were tight around my belly and I used to couldn’t wait to get home to take them off cuz they were tight. Now they fit just right. I am looking forwarded to when they are too big. Also I noticed my belly is shrinking and I don’t have Done-Lap disease anymore (lol). I still have a long way to go but so far I am liking the path that I am taking. I have lost 11 pounds and by summer I should be more than at the halfway point for my personal goals.

Tomorrow my workout partners and I will cease doing traditional volume workouts and will start doing HIT (Mike Mentzer style). We need a change plus the prospect of less gym time appeals to us. With us all having demanding careers and families. I am looking forward to punishing my fat body forcing it to grow. I have done hit before and it is an ass kicker. Not for the faint of heart. Hopefully if all goes well we will be in and out of the gym by the time the masses are only halfway through their marathon sessions. Look for updates with pics in a few weeks. Hollla.

Well I am three weeks into my return to the world of fitness. Last time I was doing so well then I just quit. For some reason I find it hard to train long term alone. Now things are different. For one during that layoff I managed to gain 10-20 pounds of blubber. That won’t help any. But on the positives I now have a workout partner, make that 2 workout partners. Two other cops from my sqaud are in the gym with me. Second I am a member of a brand new gym. The last one was o.k. but it was just a warehouse with weights and machines. Third my wife has committed herself with the diet so the enticingly crappy food is not in the house to temp me. Fourth, my in-laws have moved nearby so scheduling issues and child care won’t shouldn’t be a problem.
The last two workouts have been intense. With my partners I am able to up my intensity;something I found hard to do by myself. My diet have never been better as I have become wiser in that respect. As a result of all of this my body has responded positively. My partners are motivated to wrkout and e keep each other motivated. All in all I feel real good about this time and I can’t wait to see the 6 month results. Holla.

I have a problem that might affect my physique if I can’t fix it. The problem is with my abs specifically the fact that as soon as I start any kind of ab excercise I get painfull muscle cramps in my midsection. I can feel the muscles tighten and bulge. And it hurts like hell. I don’t think it is a potassium def. cuz no of my other muscles act this way. Only my abs. And if I don’t fix it I believe it will be a serious weakspot on the overall look of my physique. Yesterday I began one set and rope crunches and bam pain and muscle pull. Does anyone know what is causing this and more importantly what can I do to fix this?

Well I have been back at it for about 5 weeks. I have noticed a change. First my muscles feel harder and fuller. I like that. Second I can see a change in my overall body shape. I am disappointed in the fact that I can’t see any significant fat loss. I keep telling myself it didn’t get fat in a few weeks so I won’t lose it in a couple of weeks. My diet is in point and probally more on point than my actual workouts. Although I can’t keep my hands off of those protien bars. Damn they are the shit. I have been really lacking on the cardio. I am trying to convince myself I am in a bulking phase and don’t need alot of cardio right now. Deep down I know I am only fooling myself. I am going to do a clean bulk until about mid May then focus on cutting until the fall. As far as support the wife decided to commmit herself and she hired a personal trainer. I was very suprised at this and this motivates me more. I am narrowing my sups to the obvious protien powders (fast and slow), multi vitamins, a recovery enhancer and for the first time I will try Animal Pumps. I read a ton of good things about this. Thank God I have a Vitamin World two miles from my house. I will measure myself to see if I have lost or gained in the right places. Holla.

I am not very proud of mysef right now, but on the other hand I am. I stopped working out in Feb. of this year. Had surgery that kept me out of the gym for a long while and my son was born soon after the surgery. All of this compounded and I started inot my old habits of being lazy and eating crap. In the 3 months I was working out consistently I was able to lose close to 20 lbs. and a size off of m waist. I was clearly seeing my muscles tighten and get bigger. I can’t believe I quit. But as of last week I an back. Although I am now heavier than I was when I started in Oct. 06. My bottom was when I looked in the mirror and saw two things I didn’t like. One was now I have a small fat roll at the bottom of where my lats are, and I can see where my gut begins from my spare tire. My uniforms are starting to get tight and a pair of pants I have always worn are so tight I can’t even button them. But the final straw was when I bent over to tie my shoes and when I sat up I was breathing heavy! I am only 34 years old. Six years ago I was playing semi pro football. So now I am dedicated to this and my wife says she is commited too. We want this for our son. We want to set good healthy fit examples for him. I wasn’t a fat kid and I will be damn if he will be a fat, lazy, Xbox playing couch tater.

I am currently suffering from overtraining. I am going way too hard and I am very sore (day 4 for one bodypart), tired and no motivation. I am taking the week off and adjusting my workout routine accordingly. Overtraining sucks.

Well over the Thanksgiving Day holiday I fell off. Not so much on turkey day, but after. It started off with the once every 10 year snow. I couldn’t get to the gym (which was closed anyway) so things were stressfull. I made a decent attempt at eating right but slowly forgot about that. Before it was all over I had not worked out in like three weeks. Talk about feeling like shit. But I am back. Nothing like watching The Biggest Loser to get you re-motivated.

Right now at 0612 hours I am so pumped. I really like the old school BB photos of the 50’s-70’s. I just got done looking at pics of Arnold. I have never really paid much attention to his physique. But wow he had it all the size and the symmetry. At this moment I could sprint to the gym and phukin workout until I fall the phuk out. But now I must come back down to earth because my dispatcher may call me to a robbery or something (yes I am at work). What makes this really phuked up is I will not be able to workout at all because I had to work overtime and I will only have enough time to wake up and get ready for another shift. I will try to do some ads and forearms real quick (30 mins) before I shower. I want that old school muscle.
