Today, despite having a very poor nutritional day and having little to eat during school, I put up 80lb dumbbells 6 times on flat db bench. I have never done this much before, so it was a good PR for me. I feel like I couldve gone 8-10 if I had eaten properly and had gotten enough rest.
I tested my deadlift max for the first time last week and pulled 3 plates (315lbs). I felt pretty good, but need to deadlift more and get it up.
I’m losing bodyfat due to football, but my strength isn’t going down TOO much…my flat bench is suffering, as well as my power clean. I doubt I would be able to do my previous clean max of 230lbs right now…but hopefully I’ll shoot through that after the seasons over. We lost our first game, but I had a great game on defense. First game starting both ways for varsity, so I was pretty excited/proud of myself.

I ended my freshman year of football (also starting on JV) in November of 06 at 5′10" 143lbs. 9 months later (4 months ago) I stood as a 6′ 175-176lb. offensive and defensive lineman for my schools JV team. These stats, as a result of my (poor) diet and training from late November of 05 to the beginning of September in 06, couldn’t be accepted by me. I had reached that point after being skinny in elementary school, then fat in middle school.
During our 06 season, I had been a two way starter for JV, and also got a decent amount of playing time in about 4-5 varsity games (backing a 6′3" 245lb all league guard. Now that the 06 football season is over, and after going through tough cardio for 2 1/2-3 hours 5-6 days a week and also getting food poisoning (lost 8lbs due to sickness), I was at 6′.5" 160lbs…4 weeks later, I am now 6′.5" and 166-167. I am entering my fourth week of intermediate 5×5, and I *had a perfect diet at around 4,000calories a day with good macros. I kind of lost sight of that diet for a week or so, but still was getting my caloric intake. I am planning on staying strict to that diet as soon as this week is over (I have no school all week due to Christmas, I am still lifting, however).
My goal is to be 6′1" and at LEAST 195lbs for my Junior year of football and my first year of starting varsity. I will continue with 5×5 until I see my gains slowing. After that, I plan on either starting a WestSide variant or creating a new split.
