Just came up with this….

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

A new smoothie recipe….

"Put these ingredients into that thing there"*
that thing of course meaning blender… but only if your blender can crush ice.
1. small handful of ice cubes (I have a small hand, you have a big hand, adjust accordingly)
2. 2 oz. of FRS low cal orange flavor vitamin drink concentrate
3. 6 oz water
4. 4 oz skim milk
5. 1 scoop Any Whey plain whey protein
6. 1 scoop vanilla Casein protein
Blend and prepare to nom nom nom through a straw**

And the numbers….
Calories: 260
Protein: 44g
Carbohydrates: 15.5g
Fat: 0.5g (!!!!)
Flavor: yummy
Plus you get a @#$load of b vitamins and antioxidents with the FRS plus half a cup of coffee’s worth of caffeine.

*Metalocalypse reference… Nathan Explosion = awesome.
**Boyfriend nabs McDonald’s straws for me when he has to have his filet-o-fish fix…

Isopure Oatmeal….

Monday, August 6th, 2007

I kind of made this one up last week - I really like steel cut oats because of their texture, unfortunately they take a while to cool, so I make them the night before and enough for the next few days:

Equipment: 1 medium non-stick saucepan, 1 tupperware container - must hold at least 4 cups, stirring spoon

Raw materials: 4 cups water, 1 cup steel cut oats (from wholefoods bulk bin -$0.99/lb woowoo!), 1/2 scoop vanilla Isopure whey protien isolate, cinnamon and/or your favorite related spices. Steel cut oats are also known as "Irish Oatmeal" but for some reason that seems to herald a heftier price.

Procedure:

Combine oats and water in the sauce pan and bring to the boil. After it comes to a full boil, reduce heat to medium/low and let simmer for the next 30 minutes - stirring occasionally. After that, I check the texture of the oats, turn off the stove, cover the pan and go to sleep. The next morning I spoon 1/4 of the oats into a bowl, and 3/4 of the oats into the tupperware container. Stash that in the fridge - its 3 more meals waiting to happen!

Put the bowl of your single serving in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes or until piping hot. Sprinkle/stir in the 1/2 scoop of Isopure, and then add in as much cinnamon or similar spices as you want. YUM! :)
