Gross…..

Just had a (non-fitness) friend tell me last night that I "needed to stop lifting heavy weights" and that I "shouldn’t get any bigger" and that "don’t you want to still look like a girl?!"   I told her she sounded like my mother* and changed the subject.  I don’t think we’re going to be hanging out as much in the future.  I don’t tell her what to do, even in my areas of expertise, unless asked.  Funny that the idea of "being stronger" is repellent to her, but who gets called when she needs furniture moved?  That’s right… me.   Sigh.  And let’s face it, I’m not "big" in any stretch of the imagination, only now do I think I’m approaching "balanced".

*Mom’s actually gotten more supportive, since the whole personal training thing, and the fact that some of her favorite celebrities are starting to "look more toned" as she puts it.  UGH THAT WORD… "toned"  Don’t start me on the "toned" rant.  OMG.

People come around. And sometimes just changing the subject and leading by example is best. I had a co-work tell me one day, "You know, you have really changed my perception about bodybuilding. I seriously only thought of the big, big women. You’re not big at all! In fact, you’re quite small! And you EAT!" I ma not trying to be ’small’, but I got her point. :)

I understand totally!! My wife keeps telling me that big muscles are gross, disgusting and ugly. says i should make my goals to be toned and perportional. been saying this kinda stuff to not only me but all her friends and co-workers for so long that I have lost intrest in HER!!
support shutup or get out of the way!! is how I feel about it..

Yep, our culture has this image that women should be stick figures or skinny fat. A woman with some muscles looks WAY BETTER than the models & actresses splayed across magazines. It amuses me to see magazine heading of the latest super fitness regimen from some actress. Then I’ll see her pic & think "skinny fat" and NOT in shape.

Keep rocking your workout. And………Make yourself scarce come furniture move time……LOL. :D

    1) Hope you are feeling better, colds suck!
2)Man, woman, anamal, bird etc……ALL looke beter when in shape and ****ty when overweight ar flabby..I can never figure out these people!
    3) My wife often makes comments about bodybuilders being to big and two cut…but than she got all posesive at a work party for her school when one of her co-workers aparently druled over herself when I took of my shirt to get in the pool. I think that people who make these comments are just showing thare owne insecurities while being to cowerdly to chang themselves. Sort of like Axel Roses rant "Get in the ring!". Thare are my two cents!
