Pushing myself through throw-up zone!

So many excuses not to workout today!   Only got 3 hours of sleep, had to work a 12 hour day, my food schedule was messed up, there is always excuses right?  I am so proud of myself lately b/c I identify these excuses and I do not allow myself to rationalize "why I shouldn’t work out".

So today was the day I meet with my trainer (my weekly appt.)  He had been excited about a new leg workout for me.   Being a novice at taking supplements I drank a protien shake 30 min before my session thinking that would be ok.   I quickly realize on my first set of my first exercise my stomach is not chillin with the protien.

My workout looked like this: (all with 30 sec rest btwn sets)

leg ext.   3×30, squat press 3×25, standing single leg curl 3×25 each leg, Leg Press 3×25, seated leg curl 3×25, and finally walking lunges the length of gym 6 times (about 40 lunges each way).

I almost threw up so many times it was awful!  It was such a mental challenge, physically my body was about to just fall over at the end, not to mention I was sick to my stomach.   My trainer was screaming at me!  "tight stomach, chest up, deeper squats, 90 degrees, don’t pause, slow those reps down,"  In between sets he was trying to get me to throw up in the trash can to get it over with.   (He says if you puke you have to come right back and finish!)

Looking back I love knowing that I mentally was able to zone all the "excuses" out and push threw the pain and the nausea and just "DO IT"!

I look forward the that good soreness tomorrow :)   Bring it on!

hey, great workout. nothing wrong with a good puke. I cycle with my daughter and she pushes herself to the point of puking during hard interval or sprint work. She says it is best to just "get it over with and puke and then continue the workout because you feel much better". I take 50 grams whey before workouts in water. Did you use water or milk or add anything to it besides the protein? less filling for me is always best before workouts. Keep training hard! great job.

I love puking after a grueling leg workout. or right in the middle. It is true though, once you get it over with, drink a little water, pop some gum in your mouth and you can attack the weights again!!!

There’s nothing as creative as excuses for why people can’t do squats… "I have a glass back… I got in a car wreck… my old football injury…. they agitate my shoulder…"
