THE PLANK AIN’T NO JOKE….
Monday, March 30th, 2009This morning I was a fireball of enrgy., so I decided to get cardio out of the way first and do 20 minutes on my Nordic cross country skier which is equivalent to 40 minutes on a treadmill. Then I worked the abs with wood chops to failure ea. side followed by seated medicine ball twist and reverse lying curls with 6 lb ball between my legs. But for the kicker I said let me try this Plank the fitness experts keep harping about it doesn’t look difficult. So I called my coillege daughter in and got my timer and told her we were gonna try it for 1 minute. Experts recomm building up to 3 minutes. That was the longest minute of my life. When we got down to 20 seconds I was ready to quit, and my daughter right beside me kept saying , "you can do it dad". I held on 5-4-3-2-1. I felt it in every inch of my belly.. A couple of weeks of planks ,coupled with cardio should net some results.. Tonite I’m in the mood to work my back.. So we’ll see. Mitchy
