Who said tall guys can’t get big.

Monday, October 29th, 2007

I was initially disappointed about my height and build when I first started to train as a body builder.  I looked at most of the pros and realized few stood over 6′.  Toney freeman and Gunter (Noah Steers) are few of the taller body builders out there (tall BB are few and far inbetween).  I wasn’t deterred by that fact.  I knew what I wanted my body to look like and laid out a plan to get there.  I read a lot of muscle mags and did additional research.  I try to understand and get to know my body.  I found my body shape and trained as recommended.  I had to initially train as a power lifter because I realized I would have to lift more weight than a shorter guy in order to get the size and build a shorter guy has.  Once I gained the strength I in turn use that to bang out high reps with heavy weights (10-12 rep range).  I also realized I would have to pack away quality calories not just in protein shakes also but regular food.  I limited my cardio and trained with intensity and focus.  I kept reading and training like a cross between a power lifter and a body builder.  It has not always been easy or fun but the journey has been most rewarding.  I enjoy learning what my body is capable of and I enjoy sharing this with other tall lanky guys that want that body builder physique.  For you tall guys out there don’t ever let someone else place a limit on you, hard work and a sound training plan can get you where you want to be.  You have to work harder to get that body builder physique but it can be done.  If I was say about 5′8-5′10 I’m pretty sure my physique would be a lot denser and muscular.  I never dwell on should have and could have, I just go in the gym train like a mad man and stay focus on my goals.  Good luck to all you tall body builders out there believe you can do it and you will,…. train consistantly, lift heavy, diet and supplement, and lots of intensity and focus on what you want. Here’s a few quotes for you, thanks again to this site some great motivation http://www.inspirational-quotes.info/success-quotes.html

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will.

Sick and still at it

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Just been a little under the weather the last few days.  Kind of had to put in some blue collar work outs.  You know the type of work outs where you are doing just to do it.  When I go to the gym I want that intensity with me.  Blue Collar work outs get the job done but there is not enough passion and intensity in it for me.  I have a little GI tract problem, feeling week, stomach cramps, and crapping like a butt angry wolverine in the woods.  Luckily it was my off day and I had a chance to recover.  I’m off again today, I’ll see if I can get some meds to ease my ills.

Considering my recent weight gains the last few weeks.  I’ve decided to tweek my routine a little.  I’ve added more cardio and dropped about 5lbs.  I can see and feel a marked difference.  I seem to be stuck at about 250-253 around that range.  I’ll shift gym locations soon and make some adjustments to my routine and see how I react to this new training.

Let me drop a few quotes at you until the next time.  http://www.inspirational-quotes.info/growth.html quotes from this lovely site here

The way to gain a good reputation, is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear. - Socrates

The fact is, that to do anything in the world worth doing, we must not stand back shivering and thinking of the cold and danger, but jump in and scramble through as well as we can.
Robert Cushing

Follow your honest convictions, and stay strong.
William Thackeray

We only become what we are by the radical and deep-seated refusal of that which others have made of us.

Arginine Ethyl Ester sexual side effects

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

I’m experiencing some errr effects after being on it for a few days now.  To be specific "random wood".  I’ll just be sitting there and BAM! Like high school or something.  It offers great pumps and all but for right now I can do without the random wood.  Anyone on AEE (Arginine Ethyl Ester) experiencing any similiar effects? Or is this just me?  I had something similar when I was on the NO Explode and it has supplements with some of the same properties.

What is it and where does it come from?
Arginine is a semi essential amino acid that is a building block of protein. Arginine is not manufactured endogenously, and exogenous consumption is required to satisfy arginine requirements.1
Arginine Ethyl Ester HCL (AEE) is an arginine amino acid with an ester attached. Esters are organic compounds that are formed by esterification - the reaction of carboxylic acid and alcohols. Arginine Ethyl Ester can not be obtained via dietary means and must be obtained via supplementation.

What does it do and what scientific studies give evidence to support this?
Arginine Ethyl Ester is a new kind of arginine. It is, technically, an arginine derivative, so the ergogenic effects will be similar to those of regular L-arginine, but the presence of an ester will make the ergogenic effects of Arginine Ethyl Ester more pronounced.
As good as regular L-arginine is, it’s inherently limited. The first of its limits are its limited absorption through the intestine. Whereas Arginine Ethyl Ester can pass through the intestine largely intact, regular L-arginine is mostly degraded in the intestine, leaving only trace amounts of the ingested dose active.
Because of the rapid breakdown of L-arginine in the intestine, its effects on NO2 regulation, sexual arousal, and hemodialation are limited. This rapid breakdown also limits the ability of L-arginine to promote muscular growth via increases in exercise endurance and the delivery of nutrients to working muscle tissue via the muscle pump.
Injury healing, muscle growth and cellular function are all positively impacted by L-arginine, and currently accepted models of arginine metabolism suggest that these processes may be positively impacted by Arginine Ethyl Ester to a greater degree.
The presence of the ester not only enhances the function of arginine and overcomes its inherent limitations, but the presence of an ester and increased absorption also reduce the need for large doses, which may put less stress on the body.
The presence of an ester may also prolong the generation of nitric oxide and extend the benefits of arginine over a greater time period. This may result in greater endurance, enhanced pumps, and quicker recovery from exercise.

Decent gains

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

I’m content with the gains I’ve made recently with my back, I’ve come a long way.  I knew my back was my weakest area on my body, it’s coming into its own, I feel a I have a more complete physique now.  I wasn’t intending on posing for any back shots, I was waiting for next week, but I was pleased with this pic.  I have put a lot of attention to detail and work to get my back right and I think its definitely coming along.  I’m still bulking right now and will be shredding early next year.  For now I will continue to bulk and work some more on my back.  Thanks for all the people that stop by and commented on my new progress pic, it means a lot to me.  I will translate that into motivation and ensure I get a nice kick ass workout tonight.  I want to see even a little more improvement when I take another set of pic next week.  I’ve made some great gains within the last few months and will continue to do so.  Come along for the ride, I will definitely not disappoint my supporters out there.  If I’ve felt my phsyique have progress enough by mid year next year I will try and compete, not for a win but for the experience in itself. I do so enjoy the art of building a body for life.

I sit at 260lbs

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

260 lbs, I’ve never been this heavy and it’s not apparent to me, I really had no idea until i stepped on the scale.  I judge myself from month to month, looking at my progress pics analyzing and studying areas I need to improve.  I weight myself weekly sometimes ever other week mostly.  Wasn’t expecting gains like that I jumped about 8lbs since my last big weigh in.  I’m just sticking to my program doing the best I can do with what I’m given.  Next week I take some progress pics to guage my work effort in the gym, looking too see where the 260lbs translate into.  I’ve been committed and working hard let’s see what that does for me.  I’ve been in a rut lately I guess, having a pity party, I come to BB.com for inspiration and motivation, I’ve yet to be disappointed I love the fitness family and mind set on here it gives me great pleasure to let people know they are doing a great job and that they look good.  When I tell someone on here that please don’t take it lightly it is heart felt.  The iron is not an easy discipline, it takes work, dedication, motivation, committement, and drive.  Not everybody is meant for success in this discipline many are called but the chosen are few, I’m destined to be in that few.  I may be mentally down but never out.  Thanks for those that drop by and just say hi, its good to know my work is appreciated, because I look on the bodies on here as a work of art, nature sculputed and created its its simplest and purest beauty within the form of the human body.  Good luck to all you muscle heads out there doing it day in and day out.

Great site some good quotes.

http://www.inspirational-quotes.info/dreams.html

Here’s a few quotes:

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.
Henry David Thoreau

All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.
T.E. Lawrence

Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.
Henry David Thoreau

You cannot dream yourself into a character: you must hammer and forge yourself into one.
Henry D. Thoreau

The question for each man to settle is not what he would do if he had means, time, influence and educational advantages; the question is what he will do with the things he has. The moment a young man ceases to dream or to bemoan his lack of opportunities and resolutely looks his conditions in the face, and resolves to change them, he lays the corner-stone of a solid and honorable success.
Hamilton Wright Mabie

No funnies today just these things to dwell on.
