The life we lead, will always lead us

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

"The life we lead, will always lead us
and we pray that he will never leave us
It’s the price we pay, I guess that’s the reason
Why my grandma say, we all need Jesus." Common

Gym rats lead a certain lifestyle.  The average Joe has no idea or clue why we do what we do.  The heavy ass weights, the sweating, the dieting the whole lifestyle behind it.  Although some praise us, some also condem us as narcisstic, even obsessive over our bodies.  Why shouldn’t I be?  The body is my temple, I live here, its a vessel for my soul.  If the body is vessel for the soul why not make that vessel something worthy for your soul to reside in.  Body building to me has become a lot more mental, the further I progress in it.  Learning the discipline of "Iron".  My intensity and passion drives my work out.  The level of energy I bring to the gym is incumbant on the type of work out I will have.  In essence "The life I lead, will lead me…either to success or to failure".  Mental preparation and intense focus, I drive my body to failure, I push it beyond its limits and when that is not enough, I pray for strength, I pray for courage, I pray to have no limits, I pray to reach my potential.  I am rewarded, each time small victories huge personal battles.  I leave it all in the gym, no regrets, no should have, no could have, I did what I could, with what was given to me.

As usual, I try to leave with a little humor, and some quotes.

“You get judged…you get laughed at…you get looked at wrong
You get sighted for not being strong. The struggle of just being you
The struggle of just being us” Common

” There are many paths in life, all leading every which way. At times it may be too dark to see the paths, or we may choose a path that says no entry. However the paths we choose make for the people that we are. Without these walks in life we get bored, tired and stagnant. We lose that spark that every human being has, that light, that life. Be who you want to be, walk where you want to walk, love who you want to love, and make life what you want to make it.”

” Success is at arms reach, so why are your arms folded? Be not your own enemy by procrastination, instead be your own hero by self-motivation. Just do it!”

How much do you bench? How much do you weigh?

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

I’ve been around the gym awhile now and these are questions I hear people ask (see Blog Subject) or even ask me.  I’ve never really cared nor have I ever lifted for the sole purpose of numbers.  In the end the only person you really compete against is you.  In a race you don’t compete against the other athletes time you are really competing to beat your old time.  In my opinion if you focus on the numbers game you some how take the focus away from what should be most important to you, your fitness goals, and reason for weight training in the first place.  If the numbers game is what your intent was in the first place, then I think you are really cheating yourself out of something even more rewarding.  I digress, to each his/her own, people do things for different reasons and are motivated by different passions.  The numbers game IMO should never be the total goal of your passion but be the product of all your hard work, dedication, and training.  As always a little humor and some quotes, have a good day.

We need to dream. No one can ever take that away from you, to dream is eternal. It is the dreams that keep us alive.

Because dreams must be put into action for results.

” If I know I can, I may not; but if I know I will, I surely can.”
Written in 2002 by Herinder Brar — India
I believe the will to do a particular thing determines whether we can do it or not. If I have the potential to do something i.e., when I know I CAN do a certain thing, I may not act upon it and do it; but if I know I will do it, I will do it somehow, whether I have the potential or not.

” The only race you have to win is the race against yourself - there will always be someone faster and stronger but there will never be another you, so look within and push your own personal boundaries.”

” All of us have our own fears but these fears have one thing in common; that they are meant to be overcome.”
Written in 2007 by Geram L. — Philippines
I wrote this quote for those who are afraid to face their fears in life. We must always remind ourselves that we always have the power to fight them, so together we will face them, and we are powerful enough!

” Forget status symbols - real success can’t be measured outwardly.”

” Everything is within your reach. Everything is possible and everything is achievable. One just has to have the guts to make that first move and make things happen for oneself.”

” Champions know, if they want to win, they have to be prepared to constantly change the game plan and challenge themselves and their performance. Have you changed your game plan to success?”

No one can go back and change a bad beginning but one can start anything, anytime and create a successful ending.”

” The person interested in success has to learn to view failure as a healthy, inevitable part of the process of getting to the top.”
Dr. Joyce Brothers

” The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer.”
Nolan Bushnell

I hope what I wrote inspired you, or touched you in some way.  I’m just like you and you like me and tomorrow is another day for us to do something that matters for everybody.
