I like being the underdog, I thrive on it, we are what we repeatidly do!

Monday, August 27th, 2007

So many times in my life I have been discounted, laughed at, underestimated, and generally put down.  Early in my life I figured I can go along with everybodies expectation or blaze my own path.  I have had to learn to never quit, believe in myself, work hard, and never place limits on myself.  I remember curling large bottles of Coke (bottles) for weights cause I couldn’t afford a weight set, lol.  I had desire.  I remember having to run 25-30 miles a week because I sucked at running.  I was tired of people tellimg me its not just in me to be a great runner. I worked hard.  I remember people telling me you are just entering this bench press competition as a novice don’t expect to win. I never place limits on myslef, and i worked hard.  I walked away with the trophy for my weight class, lol.  If I had a nickel for everytime somebody told me no, never, can’t happen, you won’t do it, or just laughed at me I would be a millionaire, lol.  I think back from where I’ve came and look at where I’m headed and I smile, I blaze my own trail I follow’s nobody path but my own. What lies before me is what I "will" into existance. We are what we repeatidly do! What I repeatidly do is succeed against the odds, and I NEVER quit.  I might slow down, or limp across the finish line, or maybe come back at a later time, but rest assured. I WILL BE BACK! Oh yeah, I’ve also had to develop a sense of humor, it helps when you have to pick your face up off the ground dust off your clothes and continue on like nothing didn’t just happen (knowing you just feel flat on your face).

I’m leaving you guys with a few words…. take a little time let them wonder through your mind.

“There are no great men, only great challenges that ordinary men are forced by circumstances to meet.” William F. Halsey

“Greatness does not approach him who is forever looking down.” Hitopadesa

“No great man ever complains of want of opportunity.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

”Be not afraid of greatness; some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.” William Shakespeare

“Man is only truly great when he acts from his passions.” Benjamin Disreali

”Great men are like eagles, and build their nest on some lofty solitude.” Arthur Schopenhauer

“I can’t believe that God put us on this earth to be ordinary.” Lou Holtz

“The ultimate is not to win, but to reach within the depths of your capabilities and to compete against yourself.” Billy Mills

“Recipe for greatness — To bear up under loss, to fight the bitterness of defeat and the weakness of grief, to be victor over anger, to smile when tears are close, to resist evil men and base instincts, to hate hate and to love love, to go on when it would seem good to die, to seek ever after the glory and the dream, to look up with unquenchable faith in something evermore about to be, that is what any man can do, and so be great.”Zane Grey
Before I go let me say this, “I don’t work our for compliments, I don’t work out to look good, I don’t work out for nobody but me, because I deem that I’m worth it, it matters to me, I enjoy it, I am a gym rat till the day I die, and when I die bury me in the push up position so that even in death I will symbolize the essence of the life I’ve led’. I have the opportunity to make change helping others.

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I was asked to train some people (two guys).  I have to help them loose body fat.  Although I’m bulking right now, I can get tone and lean when I’m ready.  Anyway I’m often asked about diet, exercise routines, training, supplementation, etc.  I learn as much as I give out information, I like to hear honest testimony and feed back from real people because that to me validate more than any book or theory will.  Not discounting lab science and such, its just that I like to see the results in front of my eyes.  Back on subject "making a change" I plan to organize a program fro these guys incorporating both exercise, diet, and supplements to me the Holy triangle of maintaining a truly balanced physique.  Hit them with cardio 15-25 minutes, with 20-35 minutes of weight training, and adjust as needed as well as providing advice about eating right and the type of supplementation to take.  It will also help me for when I’m ready to start shredding knowing the exact path to follow.  I will blog on this, these guys have 30 days to get where they need to be.  I want to give them tools and a way of life to carry with them.  So if they ever need to they can’t take what I will show them and use it to their benefit.

I.L.S. Imaginery Lats Syndrome

Monday, August 20th, 2007

A phrase I heard being tossed around, lol.  I thought it was funny, I had no idea what they meant by I.L.S when I first heard it.  I was a little embarassed but I figured, I want to know because I might have it.  Well it was explained to me as those guys who walk around the gym flairing out their arms for seeming of "imaginery lats" pushing them out.  Almost like walking around with your chest poked out.  I was just hoping I don’t go walking around the gym like that, or at least until I gets some lats so I can strutt my stuff. lol

Well anyway another tough week ahead, I’m looking forward to really putting in some quality work, and hoping to make additional gains, I’ve ordered the "Superpump" and will be eventaully switching from the NO Explode to the Superpump.  I might start out this week with my back routine to ensure that I never suffer from I.L.S.  Hope everybody has a productive and successful week. Go heavy, Go Hard, or Go the Hell HOME!!

My gains

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

With my new pics I’ve noticed gains and changes.  I think my back is coming into its own.  Good to know I’m heading in the right direction with my training.  If anything else, I needed to adjust my reps (more reps) and poundage (more lbs) for more detail and size.  I’m content with my progress so far, considering the tools I’ve had to work with (very Spartan gym equipment).  I appreciate all the encouraging words and motivation my BB.com "Friends" have provided.  I know to some my style might seem "unorthodox" or strange and that is fine by me I’m having fun learning and having a hell of time making discoveries about my body.  I will continue to push my limits and continue to gauge my potential, this is new turf for me and it has been exciting to break new ground.  The later half of my physique development will involve me developing my legs.  I don’t see much problem there as my legs have never had a problems responding to training, maybe even responsing a little too well.  I will continue to tweek my supplements and adjust my diet a little more to see what additional benefits those offer as well.  Here are a few good quotes, in my most dreary or darkest of training moments, or when throwing a training pity party I find it useful to recite some of these to myelf.

We run, not because we think it is doing us good, but because we enjoy it and cannot help ourselves. The more restricted our society and work become, the more necessary it will be to find some outlet for this craving for freedom. No one can say, ‘You must not run faster than this, or jump higher than that.’ The human spirit is indomitable.

Sir RogerBannister

Each of us is in truth an unlimited idea of freedom. Everything that limits us we have to put aside.

Richard DavidBach

There are high spots in all of our lives and most of them have come about through encouragement from someone else. I don’t care how great, how famous or successful a man or woman may be, each hungers for applause.

George Matthew  Adams

Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken a word of encouragement to us, has entered into the make-up of our character and our thoughts, as well as our success.

George Matthew  Adams

Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air.

John Quincy  Adams

Note how good you feel after you have encouraged someone else. No other argument is necessary to suggest that one should never miss the opportunity to give encouragement.

George Matthew  Adams

Unbounded courage and compassion join’d, Tempering each other in the victor’s mind, Alternately proclaim him good and great, And make the hero and the man complete.

Joseph  Addison

Courage that grows from constitution often forsakes a man when he has occasion for it; courage which arises from a sense of duty acts in a uniform manner.

Joseph  Addison

If you wish to succeed in life, make perseverance your bosom friend, experience your wise counselor, caution your elder brother, and hope your guardian genius.

Joseph  Addison

It is easy to be brave from a safe distance.

   Aesop

I will not steal a victory. The end and perfection of our victories is to avoid the vices and infirmities of those whom we subdue.

   Alexander III ‘the Great’

It is my right to be uncommon . . . if I can; I seek opportunity . . . not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stole calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud, and unafraid; to think and act for myself; enjoy the benefits of my creations and to face the world boldly and say, ‘This I have done, and this is what it means to be an American.’

Dean  Alfrange

And with that said…. Go Heavy! Go Hard! or Go the Hell HOME!!

Getting ready to work-out, prepping your mind

Monday, August 13th, 2007

I have come the conclusion that a good work out session is not only dependant on your energy level and mood but also your motivation and focus.  When it gets about that time to hit the weights I find myself with tunnel vision and getting amped.  When I’m done I’m drained, exhausted, I know I have done a good job.  I love that feeling, same feeling you get when you’re parachuting right before you step out into the clear blue.  I hope I never loose that feeling when it comes to working out, it makes me stay hungary, disciplined, motivated, and intense.  I know exactly what I have to do, and my sole intent for that session is for it to hurt bad, palms sweaty, heart beat pulsing (its not the NO Explode this time lol).  Right now I’m just amping myself up mentally, its leg day and I know the hell that is about to be unleashed…. like I said a deep breath then step into the wild blue yonder, scared to death, and at that moment so much very full of life living directly in the moment thinking of nothing else single minded tunnel vision…. just you and the weights, reps, and sets… I luv this shit!!

” Celebrate what you’ve accomplished, but the raise the bar a little higher each time you succeed.”

” Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”

” At times we cannot see any improvements looking into the situation, but if we look back we can see the progress.”

When going through trials and tribulations in life we can get very discouraged and not see any improvements, but if we look back we can see how far we have come

” You would not exist if you did not have something to bring to the table of life.”

GO HARD! GO HEAVY! OR GO THE HELL HOME!!!

Nothing worth while is ever easy!

Monday, August 13th, 2007

So I’m starting another week of training, I’m enthusiatic about it.  I’m sure though by Wednesday or Thursday my outlook will no be as bright (lol).  I convince myself the sweat, pain, discipline, and sacrifce is worth it.  Every time I stretch a sore limb, or ache a little, or remember being tested as I pound out rep after rep after set after set.  Nothing worth while is ever easy!  I notice here and there, changes in my physique, more intensity in my work outs and the gains that go along with that.  It hasn’t been an easy road and in some cases far from enjoyable, but it was worth every damn second.  I don’t train for the image, I don’t train for big arms, chest, back, whatever it is, I train for one thing, I enjoy the fight, the discipline, the mental toughness it takes to overcome my bodies seeming limitations.  I’m a saddist at heart, I know this, I take pride in that fact, and I train accordingly. GO HARD! GO HEAVY! OR GO THE HELL HOME! There is no compromise, there is no failure, it is absolute to your success!

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm".
Ralph Waldo Emerson

The pay off “arm”"egedon

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

I have been attacking my arm doing what I feel is necessary to make them grown, "nothing worthwhile is ever easy" is one of my mantra’s.  So I throw caution to the wind and attack my arm from every conceivable angle, I make no excuses, and I have been rewarded.  The NO Explode gave me a killer pump yesterday, my arms felt like they where about to NO Explode, I think I’m over some of the side effects(hehehe) or I should say its not as bad. My "arm" egedon approach is paying off, wicked pumps and the benefit of hitting most of the muscle groups in my arm, including my forearms, no stone shall be unturned.  I think in about another month I should it my goal at 20" relaxed.  I can curl 220lbs for 4 reps, I will increase weight and reps and see how that goes as well, start off my arm routine with 100 push-ups.

GOING HARD! GOING HEAVY! OR GOING DA HELL HOME!!

NO Explode stands for Noxious Odors Exploding

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Don’t get me wrong great product and all that, but I think there is something in there giving me swamp ass.  Talk about some foul odors smells like two small pygmies died in my butt crack.  I have the BG’s (bubble gutts) something fierce.  There is a fire down below, and there is no putting it out.  In addition to the gas I have a mean case of morning wood.  Anybody experience that type of side effect with any NO products.  I mean just wood for no damn reason.  I love NO and all its great benefits but damn it all, its taking a toll on my bung holio.

The quest for the 20″ inch guns

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

I’m pretty sure when I’m pumped that I’m 20" inches plus in my arms.  The goal is to hit 20" with a relaxed arm muscle.  I have been putting in quality work so far, I like the progress I’ve made.  Rest like anything else in a good work out regimine was an essential part of it.  Although I have had akwards moment after going to sleep where the circulation in my arm was slowed. I guess I have to pay attention to the position I sleep in so my arm won’t fall asleep… mmm I wonder if I could give myself a "stranger" lol.  I guess we all have to make those sacrifices to achieve our goals and mine is, my arm falling asleep.
