Mini-Review 11 [4]

Friday, October 26th, 2007

This time around, first off, we have:

Twinlab Energy Fuel: The taste, despite Twinlab’s advertising hype, is not all that wonderful. It is not particularly awful, either, though. It is tolerable, basically, sort of a citrusy thing with a slightly artificial sweetener aftertaste. The energy rush is good for 2 - 3 hours and then drops off pretty immediately. If you’re tired or taking depressants (such as alcohol), you will likely feel sensations very akin to a crash. Otherwise, the energy is just absent after that time frame. This is very useful for night workouts, as long as your timing is on.

Biotest Hot Rox Extreme: I took this from 09/29 through 10/03 (2007). The first two days, I took one tab and noticed a prominent elevation in heartrate typical of yohimbine HCL/yohimbe, which is one of the components here. When I went to a full dosage, it was extremely detrimental to my sleep, gave me erratic heartrates, very erratic mood swings and somewhat severe energy swings, ranging from nothing to a very slight charge. I have no idea if it had any thermogenic properties or not (nothing detectable certainly) and I wasn’t about to run a full cycle as HRE was just screwing with me too much.  More can be found on this in my Xtreme Formulations Relentless Log.

Primaforce RAGE: I understand this to be the same thing as Scivation’s Dialene 4. I don’t know for sure if that is the case, but I really enjoyed using this. I got a nice heat increase as well as some slight amount of energy charge, just enough to let me know it was there, basically and it was very smooth. I’m considering running a full bottle of this sometime in the future…

Xyience Xenergy: I had the CLEAR version of this. As for an energy drink, it does give off a very slight energy charge. Like the Energy Fuel, it is a zero calorie-listed drink. However, it also lists 2g of carbs per serving, so something is whacked on the label. The taste is similar to a very bad version of 7-UP. I don’t know that I would ever use this again, maybe if there was nothing else good available and I couldn’t spare the 50 - 70g of sugar in "normal" energy drinks…
