Intra-Workout Supplementation: This Stuff Works
For over a year I was taking creatine (more specifically, MuscleTech CellTech Hardcore) during my weight training workouts because, honestly, that was pretty much all I knew to take. Then, in early February I read an add in Muscle and Fitness magazine about a soon-to-be-released supplement specifically designed to be taken during your workouts: MuscleTech IntraVol. I had to wait until late-Februay/early before it was finally out on the market, and I couldn’t get my hands on it fast enough.
I’ve been taken it ever since, just over a month, and something happened that I really wasn’t expecting: I packed on 10 lbs. of muscle! Wonna know how I know it’s muscle and not fat? Because my waistline is still smaller than it was two years ago, my wedding band still fits loosely on my ring finger (as opposed to the previously uncomfortably tight fit in my more portly days), and I actually noticed that I have gained more lean muscle mass.
A recently article on Bodybuilding.com on Intra-Workout Supplementation discusses the findings of clinical research, which shows that test subjects that took intra-workout supplementation during a 12-week period packed on more muscle (9.04 lbs.) than those who took a placebo (3.97 lbs.). The article also discusses what happens catabolically to your muscles during resistance training, and how intra-workout supplementation can mitigate this process and help you hold onto the lean muscle you’re busting your butt each day in the gym to develop.
I recommend both the article and the supplement. This stuff works!
