Off day / handball

So today was a day off of lifting before I hit it hard again the next two days… I had a lot of energy so I decided to play handball with the guys.. Maybe I’ll post some pics if we got any good ones while we were out playing.

So called off day

So today and tomorrow were supposed to be off days for me… but I figured I’d take today to get some things worked on that needed working on…

This included

-Numerous calf exercises and sets

-Forearm wrist curls and other things to build forearms (they’re hindering my progress with biceps)

-Cable and dumbbell Front rotator cuff exercises to build my rotators up… they’re starting to keep me from doing flat db and BB presses with bench and especially Incline exercises…. which is really bad..

So it wasnt a hard workout per say but it felt great to be in the gym … now to be bored all night and eat.

 TRAIN HARD!

New workout Day 4

Monday, September 17th, 2007

So today’s workout was pretty good overall.. minus the whole not doing the correct rep format like I was supposed to … Did 15 reps on most stuff instead of the 10-12 reps I was supposed to be doing, idk what I was thinking lol!  But reguardless it went well…  Only downside is I don’t think I warmed up my shoulders enough before doing incline dumbbell bench press.  My right shoulder instantly started hurting after the first set.. It was only hurting during the press movement, though.. when I did side raises and barbell upright rows it seemed fine.. Just needs the 2 days off I’m getting 2morrow and wednesday I guess!

Today’s workout

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Leg Press: 4 sets of 410lbs @ 15 reps per set

SUPERSETTED WITH…

Rope Pulldown Ab Crunches: 4 sets of 170lbs @ 15 reps per set

Leg Curl Machine: 4 sets of 100lbs with each leg @ 15 reps per leg

Wide Pulldowns on Freemotion Machine: 4 sets of 100lbs w/ each arm @ 15 reps

Hyperextensions: Held 35lb plate against chest & did 4 sets of slow reps.

Did set of 20 reps on Pulldown machine and leg extension machine before I left to keep the blood flowing.

Paradise!!

So there I am, mp3 blasting, blood flow raging like a river’s current, nothing but me and the iron.  I look around, I see I am the solitary soul in this room of unlimited opportunity.  THis is paradise… This is what I live for! I was the only person in the weight room at my gym and I had complete focus today… It felt amazing…  I pushed through every rep and honestly FELT that mind/muscle connection with each and every rep.  I actually enjoy feeling that connection more than pushing out heavy weight.  I think my entire routine weight is going to go down in weight from now on and solely focus on that contraction with each and every rep. 

I’ll post numbers later, I’m going to go bike to our lake close by and watch the sunset.

Off day

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

So today is my first off day of the new routine, and Idk why but I am really friggin sore from the last two days lol… I definitely needed those 10 hours of sleep last night!  I’m not really too happy about fall coming :( It started getting cold and windy this week, down to 40-50 degree’s in the morning and at night.. Sad stuff…

ANYWAY!  Hope everyone has a great day and train hard if you are training on this wonderful saturday!

New routine Day 2

Friday, September 14th, 2007

So today was day two of my new routine… I’m struggling to keep my ego down and strict form.. so numbers are being played around with…

Incline Barbell Bench: 225 for 5 sets @ 5/5/5/4/4 reps

Seated DB Shoulder Press: 80 db’s for 5 sets @ 8/8/8/7/7 reps ( need to lower weight a bit )

Cable Curls(wide and narrow): 150lbs for 5 sets @ 10 reps per set.  Hurt my forearms to go at a higher weight :(

Straight Bar Cable Pushdowns: 165lbs for 5 sets @ 10 reps

Bent-Over Lateral DB Raises: 15lbs per arm for 3 sets @ 12 reps per set. (focused on holding at the top and doing perfect form.)

Overall not a bad workout.  It’ll get perfected by next week :)

New Workout Day 1

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

So today was the beginning of my new workout.  Today’s exercises were Squats, Deadlifts, and various calf stuff that I do.  I noticed my ego had been taking over on deadlifts so I lowered the weight substancially today so I could get absolute perfect form and really feel the stretch in my hammies instead of using my back.

Squats:  5 sets of 5 reps @ 345lbs  (1 rep from failure)

Deadlifts(mostly str. leg): 5 sets of 5-6 reps at 225lbs (wasn’t necessarily close to failure, but form was good and got a good stretch)

Calves……

1 Legged straight leg calf raises ( did 4 sets with each leg w/ 45lb plate )   10 reps each set

1 Legged bent-leg calf raises ( 4 sets w/ 45lb plate ) 10 reps each set

Freemotion calf machine:  alternated between bent knee and locked out knee for 6 sets for 10 reps

Daily Agenda

Hmm off day for me… seems like I never know what to do with myself on off days.  With my new routine I’m starting tomorrow, I only have 4 days a week where I actually lift!!  That’s less than what I’m used to.   Guess I’ll be doing a bit more biking to get out and get some suN! haha..

Getting a haircut tonight before work… thats the highlight of my day… woo! haha.

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Since I couldn’t really lift legs this morning, I decide to try biking with a lady friend of mine this afternoon before work and my hip flexors seemed to do pretty well!  I’m not sure why I couldn’t squat, maybe just strained muscles… I’m sure it’ll be fine by thursday.   Now to work all night and study for 2 exams afterwards… If only I could just eat and exercise all day everyday… what a life that would be :( haha..
