Good and bad news

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

So bad news is…my soccer game was cancelled due to a crazy thunderstorm that rolled in, and it was lightening all over the place.  GOOD NEWS is that means I went straight to the gym to do today’s workout that I planned on waiting til’ tomorrow to do.  despite having this lingering cold/congestion the past couple days, it went pretty well :) Numbers went up on pretty much every exercise… I’m too lazy to post numbers right now but know I did better than last week!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, and trained hard!

Today/NFL ;)

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

So I’m supposed to lift today (legs and back) but I have this lingering cold still and that may affect my workout… And I also have a soccer game at 5pm tonight so I will probably just have some fun playing at the soccer game and continue lifting tomorrow :)   Gotta keep healthy.

On another note….Gratz to Brett Favre and his record breaking game today so far !  10-6 at halftime… GO PACKERS!

AWESOME workout!

Friday, September 28th, 2007

So today’s workout was amazingly good, especially for my upper chest!  Like always I tried to do every set until I was 2 reps from failure, then stop.  Heres today’s numbers!

Incline Barbell Bench Press:  210lbs (5+ over last week) for 5 sets @ 5 reps per set..  Funny part here… The first 4 sets were easy, reguardless of the fact that I raised it 5lbs over last week.  So, I tried to go to failure on my 5th set… and to my suprise, I did 11 reps without any help from a spotter!!!  I was pumped!!

Dumbbell Shoulder Press: 80’s in each hand for 5 sets of 8 reps

Wide/Narrow alt. Cable Curls: 165lbs for 5 sets of 10 reps ( got 9 on the last set ) Tried to take my forearms out of the equation as much as possible.  They didn’t hurt like they did the first week of this routine so that’s a plus!

Straight Bar Pushdowns: 165lbs for 5 sets of 10 reps

Upright Rows (BB): 95lbs for 3 sets of 15/15/13 reps Was very suprised by this exercise also.. I raised the weight 5lbs over last week and I was pushing out reps like they were nothing compared to last week!

Did one set of high and low cable chest flies to pump my chest up with blood at the end of the workout… In conclusion, this workout went VERY well… I missed class for it too.. but it was well worth it ;) Such is the price of pursuing your passions!

Train hard everyone!

Discouraged

Friday, September 28th, 2007

So I’m looking through my last update of pictures and I’m not very happy with a few things…

1. Legs look horrible… I didn’t flex them at all like I should have when posing…

2.  I didnt pre pump before this set of pictures ( basically Just slapped on the dream tan and posed )

3. There is a lack of back poses, and the ones I have don’t NEARLY show the developement of my back that I want.

So basically I’m going to take some somewhat new pics here sometime for legs and Back within a week to try and capture the muscle developement for the better.

On a brighter note… Can’t wait for tonight’s workout :)

Week 3: Day 1

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

ALmost forgot to write up today’s workout!  It went really well, and I upped the numbers by 5lbs for both major exercises and did 5 reps on each set with good form!  Like always, each set was 2 reps from failure or so.

Barbell Squats(deep/wide): 340lbs for 5 sets at 5 reps per set

Strt. Legged Deadlifts:  390lbs for 5 sets at 5 reps per set

Just doesn’t feel like a lot of back work for one day… But I’m going to keep following the routine down to the "T".  After this week, I do completely different exercises for every body part and will do those for 3 more weeks.. So I’m not too concerned :)

Now for work all night :(

TRAIN HARD everyone!

Not so off day

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Like last week, I took my first of two off days to do some minor stuff, nothing crazy.  Did a lot of calf stuff and some sets of forearms and rotator cuff exercises to allow me to lift heavier on presses/ bicep movements and such.  Tomorrow is a complete rest / study for tests day and then week 3 will begin on thursday!

Have a good one everyone ;)

Train hard

Week 2: day 4

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Last day of lifting for this cycle/week, minus tomorrow and doing some minor stuff (calves/forearms/rotator cuffs).  It went pretty well, too!  I think all of my numbers went up from last week… Like every workout, All of my sets were about 2 reps from failure give or take one rep.  Also… break times are significantly lower than usual.  I’m doing 1.5-1.75m breaks for 10 rep stuff and 1.25m breaks for higher than 12 reps today.

Incline DB Bench Press: 90’s in each hand (highest we have in our gym, lame i know)  for 4 sets @ 10 reps

Standing DB side Raises: 35’s in each hand for 4 sets @ 12 reps

Standing Bicep DB Curls: 45’s in each hand for 4 sets @ 12 reps

Rope Pushdowns: 85lbs for 4 sets @ 12 reps

Upright BB Rows: 90lbs for 3 sets @ 15 reps

Also did some high and low cable curls at the end of the workout to make sure I still had plenty of blood flowing through the pectoralis major ;) hahaha.

**** ON A BRIGHT NOTE!  I started eating more and put a weight gainer dose into my routine of eating and I’m now up to a stable 220+ lbs in the morning.  Great accomplishment for me, I needed to push through my weight plateau!****

Train hard everyone, have a great day

Brian

Week 2: Day 2

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Todays numbers.. rotator cuff is still bothering me some but I’m working the strength up on it! As always, I was at least 2 reps from failure on all sets.

Incline BB Bench: 205lbs for 5 sets @ 5 reps per set

DB Shoulder Press: 75DB in each hand for 5 sets @ 8 reps per set

EasyGrip Cable Curls (wide and narrow both): 160lbs for 5 sets @ 10 reps per set

Straight-Bar Pushdowns: 175lbs for 5 sets @ 10 reps per set

Bent-Over Lat. DB Raises: 20 DB in each hand for 3 sets @ 15 reps per set (held at the top)

Also did some minor calf stuff throughout the workout between sets to keep hitting them.

Now to head to the lake for one last weekend this season!  Have a good weekend everyone!

Week 2 new workout

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

So started the second week of my new routine.. Felt pretty good :) Decided to use more back in my deadlifts because the deadlifts are meant to work back more than hams, but I still got a good burn in my hams and ESPECIALLY my glutes… wow… Heres today’s numbers

Squats: 5 sets @ 335lbs for 5 reps per set  (all were parallel or lower and with no hunching of the back)

Deadlifts (mostly strt leg): 5 sets @ 385lbs for 5 reps per set

Also did some ab stuff in between sets!   May not seem like a hard workout but with 10 sets of heavy weight, it was plenty to hold me over for the day.

TRAIN HARD EVERYONE!
