Keep it simple
Whenever I go to the gym, people will look at me like I’m crazy, cause all I do is 3 simple exercises: bench press, lat pulldowns, and bodyweight squats. 3 simple compound exercises that work. If other people want to do all those other exercises, that’s fine. That’s what works for them. With me, I know what works for me, and isn’t that what exercise is about? Finding what works for you?
Here’s how it breaks down: after every set on the weights, I do 50 BW squats. And I love squats. I was taught long ago, that if the base is weak, the rest of the body won’t be stable. Many folks disagree, but that’s them.
Anyways, that’s how it breaks down for me when I lift weights. Same thing happens when I do just pullups and dips. I do 50 squats between sets, and I always get a good workout.
Like I said, it works for me. When I don’t feel that "burn", I either increase the pounds, or I increase the reps on the bodyweight exercises and increase the squat reps. It’s all about keeping it simple, and finding what works for you.

Totally know what you mean, I see guy in the gym to all kinda of crazy set ups when they are lifting. Arm curls in the squat rack, pulling the incline bench over by the cable machine.
I hear a lot about squat and deadlift, wish my back wasn’t so messed up, cause I’m starting to feel like I’m missing out.

Sounds like you’re almost doing a 5×5 workout there, big man! I’m a disciple of the KISS workouts: simple & heavy, just like me.
Keep goin heavy, Dre!
