It went pretty well. I put back on my sport watch and was able to time rest periods in between sets excercises (1 min between sets and 1 min 30 secs between exercises). It was back day and I love to do back.
It’s kind of weird because when i was in high school and pot high school it was all about chest and arms. But when i got into bodybuilding back in 2004 while i was in the marines, i developed a love for back, legs, and shoulders.
It’s good because i feel that i have the good genetics for the chest and arms. I have always been complimented on both whether i was working out or not. So, when i started BB, I decided that i would focus on my problem areas. My back is my biggest problem but hamstrings are lacking too. After awhile of focusing on them, they started to develop and i started to look working them out more and more. I prefer back and legs over chest and arms now. However, I know that i need a balanced body so i beat the hell out of all my muscle one day a week. No favorites when it comes time to lift.

until I hit the gym tonight. It seems like forever ago since i have been in the gym but it was actually yesterday morning at 7am. I decided to sleep in this morning and work out/cardio tonight. I have classes starting tomorrow so I wanted to get a refresher sleep in today instead of tomorrow when i need to be up and running by 7am.
However, training is going well. My nutrition is on point besides the whole "tap water incident" (that happened today lol). I switched back up to store bought distilled water. It’s funny because as soon as i started drinking it, within 1/2 hour, something clicked inside my body and it started up all the processes again. So maybe here in a couple of days i will lose the expected water weight.
On a brighter note. I am down in weight. Since throwing out my clothes (literally), I have been noticing the same clothes i wear daily fitting better. Not exactly loose, or taking it down another notch in the belt but the clothes just feel better on me. It’s weird. I can’t wait till week 4 when i will be able to tell a difference in my clothes for sure.
Speaking of time… It’s been 10 days since the start. Seems like yesterday that i started this journey for the final time. Well, time for some redline, close the store, and then head over for some cardio/weights.

Please comment.
I have a supertight meal plan (make all my food fresh), drink 1 gallon of water, only take multi-vit and protein poweder, and it seems like i am retaining water.
Feel bloated most days, for drinking a gallon plus of water day, my urination does’t seem to be in line. A saline taste after i drink water often occurs.
In the past, i have drank distilled water by the gallon when cutting (losing 8-12 lbs in the first 2 weeks due to the blody flushing itself with proper hyrdation) but this time i am drinking tap water (1 gallon +) either from work or from home and i seem to be holding on to water. I wouldnt think tap water would make that big of a difference. Day 10 and only 5lbs dropped.
Any suggestions?

I always have a breaking point at week 7. Yeah, I quit. straight up, no reason (that i can consciously acknowledge). Great gains, great weight loss and then wham. week 7 and that’s it.
So, I have decided to invest more into me (i love me some me) this time around. This time, at week 5-7, I plan on getting with a trainer/nutritionist. Yes, I know. eat 6 times. small meals. HIIT, weights, blah blah. I got the basics down pact. BUT, I think that if i were to seek the guidance of someone who has done competitions and been there and done that. It would motivate me more to complete all of my goals.
I have never done a competition (prepped for one before @ 205 and 16% and dropping while in the Marines) but then dreaded week 7 hit and damn the man. So, i think i would like the guidance to help me know that: if Doug does this x motivation=Ridiculous results.
Also, I’ll need a hard ass. Like a Drill Instructor type. Anyone have recommendations in Orlando, Fl? Let me know your comments on this.

Not only did I throw out all the old big clothes that fit but i decided to throw out all work clothes. Thats right. I’m down to one dress shirt, slacks, tie, and belt.
Screw it. all or nothing. It’s all mine in 09!

To the scale. It’s bad. I get it from when i use to wrestle. I like to weigh in 3-5 times a day at least. it kills my motivation. Maybe i should throw it out the window…? I don’t know.

I have conquered the bad eating habits that wrestling caused but kicking this scale thing is hard. I just want it to be over and be ripped already. Enough of all that mess… Comment if you’d like. I’m pretty sure i;ll throw it out and buy a new one once a month for weighing in

After many days of waking up early to do cardio on an empty stomach and not being able to do it bc of the gym, I was finally able to get it done today. That’s right! 20 min HIIT this morning before work. Tonight is hittin the weights!

So, I have a Starbucks about 5 ft from my store. Great. I like coffee, not love, but like it. However, when you order a regular coffee brew, black and straight… Man…it just sucks. It taste burnt. I can do that at home for pennies and not have to walk over (good cardio) there and purchase a cup o’ crap for $1.98. I cannot get over the fact that millions of people love them and they don’t advertise! maybe once i am down to 190lbs, i’ll try a frap-a-lalalalalalla-pacino but their simplest menu item sucks so i can’t imagine the more complicated items being better.
Yes, I have coffee at home. No, i forgot to make it this morning.

I was up for the 2nd day in a row @ 7am again. Ready to hit early morning cardio on an empty stomach. Wait, it’s sunday and my gym doesn’t open that early on a weekend. Duh! So, I chilled out until about 945 and then headed up there.
I did some intense cardio on the Eliptical Machine. Freakin fantastic! 30 mins. Stayed around 7-8.5 speed on level 1 and did 3.4 miles.
While this may not seem great to some…it’s awesome to me because when i first started back…yeah, let’s just say the numbers weren’t exactly these. I’ll be up to doing level 17’s for 5 mins and then back down to a level 8 for resting period before the end of the month.
I’m going back tonight for my 2nd session of 30 minute cardio. I think I am going to pass on the workout and balance things out during the week.

So, I decided to get healthy for many reasons. One of them was to offset the occurance of gouty arthritis in my feet (recently found out).
This was one of the many health complications i was incurring due to being overweight and being inactive. Working out and being active def. helps out with the arthritis because it moves, stretches and strenghtens the joints in the feet.
Anyways, I was reading on BB.com how they were having the 2nd annual Muscle Tech Transformation Contest. 1st place being $25k, going to Mr. Olympia, hanging with Dexter Jackson, $1000 in Muscle Tech Supps, and BRAGGING RIGHTS. F’n right doggie, count me in!
Now, I have the motivation of getting my health back in order, having a productive social/work life again, AND possibily winning a contest for $25k!
Since it can only be for a 12 week time period, I decided that I would continue to train down to around 230 lbs. and start the 12 week transformation contest period on or around Feb 1st.
I’m flippin excited!
