Ahhhhh...that's an easy one Doob. The answer is "neither".

Look "inward"...not "outward". It goes back to "Body Mind Mastery". Take another pensive look at the goal under your Avatar. Then go back and look at your high school photos and then look at your present Avatar photo. ;)

You can't be afraid to feed your muscles. It is the only way they will grow. That doesn't mean you have to add piles of fat while bulking, you just have to eat smart. Start with a good protein powder with low carbs. Mix a shake and drink 1 before and 1 after a workout. Just start with that - and you will notice your muscles growing and it is not going to affect your abs in any extreme way.

BTW: I reccomend Optimum 100% Whey - vanilla (so I can add whatever flavor I am in the mood for)

That's the spirit, dude! Now, do me a favor and stick to it. I always have the same problem, but the inverse. I just have never convinced myself to cut, so now that is what I am doing.

Welcome to Lesson #1. It takes more than a couple days (or weeks even) to turn back into that guy you remember in the mirror. It took me almost 3 years to figure it out - so you are way ahead of where I was when I started.

Lesson #2 is a lot harder. You are going to have to eat to look lean. Crazy, I know. But since your build is not that of a runway waif, you are going to have to add muscle weight to look the way you want to look. The trick is the same intensity you put into starving yourself (and don't tell me that wasn't a mental and physical hell) you now need to put into working out and eating -not diet, but nutritional eating. In addition tacking together some exercises in your garage isn't going to cut it. You are either going to have to invest in a home gym (not reccomended) or join a gym so that you can properly work your muscles. -check out some of my Bodyspace and linked blogs on "overcoming the fear and setting foot in a gym"

This is something you can do. You have taken the right steps at the right time. Now you just need the knowledge and education to fulfill your goal, and at this point in your life NO goal body, social, or personal is unachieveable.

I have to agree with Jeff. You are being too hard on yourself. Post some numbers. The charts are a great way of keeping track of your progress and help greatly in achieving your goals. You've had some great progress and " Be Happy" about that. You are inspirational will succeed with your goals.
Play safe and have fun. Del

You're too tough on yourself Doobie. Your body has come a long long way over the past couple years. You are to be congratulated for the tremendous weight goals you have achieved. Be patient, blend some cardio work at the gym with your bodybuilding routine - insure you are getting enough protein. At your age, the stretch marks from years of overweight will reduce in time. You're on the right track - your progress picture shows it. Post some statisics on your profile, and keep re-posting them so not only US, but YOU can track it. Then you'll have documented evidence that you can do it. You'll get there. Jeff.

I agree about the scale! Those things LIE!!!

I read your profile, you have accomplished so much! I too struggled with being over weight as a child, and it was AWFUL! Isn't it the best feeling in the WORLD to be in shape...to think I wasted SO much of my life being out of shape...sadness. :(

I know what you mean about the calories...I am always tempted to be super strict because I am terrified that I will spiral out of control and gain tons...but you seem to be on the right track upping your calories gradually. Good job!!!

Good luck with the cut, although it shouldn't take too long. You're looking pretty lean already in the photo.
