Quick catch up.

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Only 11 days to go before comp day. Everything seems to be going fine but could always be better. Still a good 2 kgs heavier than when I was this far out for the last comp, but i am definately a lot leaner. Life is just a blur of routine now, same time same place for everything, dont need the distractions and need 100% focus. Need to view more natural videos, can parrot fashion most of laynes now, always waiting for a new one to give me a new boost and something to think about.

Well time to pack the bag for the gym. Keep the peace everyone.

Bit off topic but can someone tell me why the American senate ( or the other one) would not vote to bail out its own banks when the US economy is so rightly or wrongly entwined in all the world economies because  "we dont want to set a precident of bailing out failing companies no matter their size" but will waltz into foriegn countries under the pretence of "there is an injustice here and we have to step in because no one else has the abitlity".

Its been a while.

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

My best mate got stuck into me today because I havent updated my blog in such a long time. Well she sort of mentioned it anyway. Have been really busy training and doing cardio amongst all the other things that have to be done in a day.

I am about 6 weeks out of the WA INBA comp so the dieting is becoming pretty strict now. Started posing last week and have worked out the routine already. Choice of music, Wolfmothers joker and the thief, cause I want to steal this title and then have a laugh about it. Corny hey.

On the plus side we have done my diet a lot different this time and i am a good 3kgs heavier now this far out. Legs are about done and Abs are leaner than they were with 6 weeks to go. Stopped having a refeed / cheat day now and am just having a 2 hour burst, works a treat. I am thinking I should come in 2kg heavier for this comp and a lot leaner. Well its time to feed the furnance so catch you all later.

Change of Plan.

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

So after catching up with Dan the man we have decided not to Carb load starting on the monday, but add more calories from fat sources from wednesday onwards. Cream, Avocado, salt free peanut butter, swap my tuna for leaner steak and go from there.

I can see the sense in this sort of thinking, and he doesnt believe my previous concerns about carb spill should be a worry to me. Luckily I can handle the cardio because i am still doing huge amounts of it at present. Have changed back to one weight session instead of two a day now, but have lowered the reps and upped the poundage. Killer, but now give the muscles that extra rest. Well sort of, means I fit an earlier cardio in. Ah the give and take.

Just about over this now less than 2 weeks to go, feeling my lowest and wondering if its all worth it. Of course it is, the mental achievement is huge, and its no wonder comp body builders get the admiration they deserve. But I have to say guys that comp more than once or twice a year, holy crap that must just be a sickness. Hehehe.

Not Long now.

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Well I am into the final 2 1/2 weeks now, and there is literally nothing left in the tank. I have dropped my post workout simple carbs (a week ago), so the body has no choice but to start chewing on that last little bit of fat. Looking back at last weeks pics, the difference is amazing, especially in the morning.

Cardio is still high, 5k interval in morning, 15 mins eliptical after each workout and then another 5k in the evening. Next week will be my last full workout week so i will go back to one workout instead of 2. I will go as heavy as I can for less reps. From there I will do maybe one light workout on wednesday before the show.

Peak week plan so far (subject to change) is to carb up on monday tuesday and wednesday which will give me time to adjust any carb spill over. Would be interested in opinions on this, as the jury is still out. And then just rest and maybe a couple of light walks, colour and lots of posing.

4weeks5.JPG4 weeks out4 weeks to go and I thought I would chuck up some crappy photos. Must send wife on photography course. These were done at night after about 8 litres of water during the day. Its amazing the difference when you first get up to later that night. Anyway the photos dont do me much justice I think. Everything is on trackwih just a little more off the tummy to go. Better lighting and early in the day the abs are far sharper, and I havent had as much water then either. Anyway nearly time to eat again and then beautiful sleep.

Quick Update.

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Well pays to keep on top of things. Found out the comp date is on 17th May not 11th like previously read. Good news is that I still have 32 days to go. Carbs are still highish but so is the amount of cardio I am doing. Things in general are looking good and seem to be on track. Need to get rid of that persistant little bit around the lower abs, but still have a bit of time.

Have just done 2 days of higher than normal carbs, about 50grams more so today and tomorrow will cut carbs in half just to make use of that quicker matebolism, before it switches on. Pays to keep the body guessing.

35 Days and insanely hungry.

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Man does anyone know how to make cottage cheese taste nice. What a crock by the way "cottage cheese". Cottages are cosy and nice and fill your soul with pleasant experiences. Cheese well it must by the nicest of dairy products on sandwiches, toasted, over the top of your lasagne. So how the hell did putting both words together end up with such a vile concoction. Mum always said 2 wrongs dont make a right, how does 2 wonderful rights make something so completely wrong. Sorry but i am hungry.

Anyway starting to get a little panicy, seeing viens in my upper legs when the light is right now, so am obviously getting lean, but the abs a still hanging onto some fat. Well maybe some fluid as well, i am still on between 8 and 10 litres of water a day. Am probably going to drop another shake now and replace it with whole food, and with 3 weeks to go will drop the post workout shake and replace that with real food also.

My unofficial contest prep guru Dan the man was in the gym today and suggested doing some more cardio after each gym session, instead of dropping any more calories. I am happy to agree with that. I shall now be up to 4 cardio sessions a day, starting to wonder when the light at the end of the tunnel will lead me to that homemade lasagne. Well its time to eat again, catch you all soon.

48 Days and the metabolism hunger kicks in.

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Only 48 days to go, and i am starting to feel it now. I had increased my carbs last wednesday so 30 odd % and increased the cardio in an attempt to kick start the metabolism which i think was waning a bit. I have also started training at the gym twice a day, big body part in am and small one in pm, as well as some unweighted ab work. Just some hanging leg raises and seated leg raises.

Well the first couple of days the body liked the extra carbs, but bugger me today the hunger is kicking in big time. I am eating again in about 20 minutes (150gm brown rice, 180 chicken) but tummy is screaming for something. I am allowed 1/2 cup mixed cashews and almonds but really like to keep most of that for night time so the hunger doesnt wake me up. I think i will just retire to the couch and watch the rugby until gym time again.

But as that saying goes "Its time to pay the piper son"

7 weeks out big update.

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Man have I been slack a bit of late. Updates are few and far between, but damn have I been busy. The guys I employ have been falling behind with there work so I have had to muck in, in an attempt to rectify the problem, and i am really adverse to manual labour ( I really thought manual was the guy who bought me my steak at the resturant). Anyway, rugby season is only a week away and we have been having scratch matches and the like, so that has been full on. Coaching the younger guys (20s) is great, you can flog these guys and they come back for more. We would if anything have to be the fittest and strongest team this year.

Met Grant Clemesha at our gym today. For those that dont know, Grant won the amatuer Mr Universe in 1995 (I think) and was an IFBB pro for many years, before opting for a normal life, as he put it. He is still huge, but reckons he likes being normal and not having to sleep with breathing aids is a bonus.

Quick update on the food and supps follows.

Meal one   1 cup oats 1/2 cup skim milk

9 or 10 eggs plus one yolk.

Supps      2 x flax caps, 3 x fish oil, 2 x glucosamine, 3 x BCAA caps, 1 x garlic cap, 1 Animal Pack.

Pre workout - 2.5 scoops No explode

Post workout (immediately) 30gms liquid carbs 3 x BCAAs caps

                    (1/2 hour) 2 scoops ON 100% whey

either 1/2 cup oats or 6 thin rice cakes.

Meal three      150gms brown rice

                     180gms (after cooked) chicken

Meal four        Presently 2 scoops Whey and 6 rice cakes

5 weeks out will change to 150gm rice, 180 chicken

Meal five        180 gms chicken

1.5 cups of either salad or vegetables

Meal 6          2 scoops whey will also change this to solid food 5 weeks out

Snacks         1/2 cup of almond/cashew mix throughout the day.

This is giving me just over 2800 cals, about 300gms protein 280 carbs, and 55 fat

Cardio at the moment is a killer, twice daily now, up at 6am put on the ipod, do intervals of walk a song, run a song for just over 5ks and then fast walk 5ks in the evening normally before meal 5.

Progress thus far. Started contest prep at a hefty 110kgs (242 pounds), I am trying to keep away from the scales now but last peep i was 89kgs (195.8 pounds) so thats 21kgs (46.2 pounds)vanished. I think it equated to aboout 8 inches off the waist, which i am pleased with as well.

Well you all enjoy the easter break, i am planning a visit to the beach with my pre packed food and a magazine for some relaxation and to check out the scenery, behind dark glasses (well the wife is coming too.)
