48 Days and the metabolism hunger kicks in.

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Only 48 days to go, and i am starting to feel it now. I had increased my carbs last wednesday so 30 odd % and increased the cardio in an attempt to kick start the metabolism which i think was waning a bit. I have also started training at the gym twice a day, big body part in am and small one in pm, as well as some unweighted ab work. Just some hanging leg raises and seated leg raises.

Well the first couple of days the body liked the extra carbs, but bugger me today the hunger is kicking in big time. I am eating again in about 20 minutes (150gm brown rice, 180 chicken) but tummy is screaming for something. I am allowed 1/2 cup mixed cashews and almonds but really like to keep most of that for night time so the hunger doesnt wake me up. I think i will just retire to the couch and watch the rugby until gym time again.

But as that saying goes "Its time to pay the piper son"

7 weeks out big update.

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Man have I been slack a bit of late. Updates are few and far between, but damn have I been busy. The guys I employ have been falling behind with there work so I have had to muck in, in an attempt to rectify the problem, and i am really adverse to manual labour ( I really thought manual was the guy who bought me my steak at the resturant). Anyway, rugby season is only a week away and we have been having scratch matches and the like, so that has been full on. Coaching the younger guys (20s) is great, you can flog these guys and they come back for more. We would if anything have to be the fittest and strongest team this year.

Met Grant Clemesha at our gym today. For those that dont know, Grant won the amatuer Mr Universe in 1995 (I think) and was an IFBB pro for many years, before opting for a normal life, as he put it. He is still huge, but reckons he likes being normal and not having to sleep with breathing aids is a bonus.

Quick update on the food and supps follows.

Meal one   1 cup oats 1/2 cup skim milk

9 or 10 eggs plus one yolk.

Supps      2 x flax caps, 3 x fish oil, 2 x glucosamine, 3 x BCAA caps, 1 x garlic cap, 1 Animal Pack.

Pre workout - 2.5 scoops No explode

Post workout (immediately) 30gms liquid carbs 3 x BCAAs caps

                    (1/2 hour) 2 scoops ON 100% whey

either 1/2 cup oats or 6 thin rice cakes.

Meal three      150gms brown rice

                     180gms (after cooked) chicken

Meal four        Presently 2 scoops Whey and 6 rice cakes

5 weeks out will change to 150gm rice, 180 chicken

Meal five        180 gms chicken

1.5 cups of either salad or vegetables

Meal 6          2 scoops whey will also change this to solid food 5 weeks out

Snacks         1/2 cup of almond/cashew mix throughout the day.

This is giving me just over 2800 cals, about 300gms protein 280 carbs, and 55 fat

Cardio at the moment is a killer, twice daily now, up at 6am put on the ipod, do intervals of walk a song, run a song for just over 5ks and then fast walk 5ks in the evening normally before meal 5.

Progress thus far. Started contest prep at a hefty 110kgs (242 pounds), I am trying to keep away from the scales now but last peep i was 89kgs (195.8 pounds) so thats 21kgs (46.2 pounds)vanished. I think it equated to aboout 8 inches off the waist, which i am pleased with as well.

Well you all enjoy the easter break, i am planning a visit to the beach with my pre packed food and a magazine for some relaxation and to check out the scenery, behind dark glasses (well the wife is coming too.)

How Slack.

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Well finally back from my 10 day trip to Australias famous apple isle Tassie. Was a hard slog and I wasnt able to get to a gym at all. Probably needed the rest though as I felt a lot better and stronger in the gym the last 2 days. It is hard to stay clean when you are moving around so much but i managed my day meals OK. We had to eat out a lot at night so I made the best choices I could and didnt get bent out of shape over it. I had already made the decision to up the carbs and do twice a day cardio on my return to the main land anyway. Still 10 weeks to go so i am not panicking yet.

Still havent recieved my supps from BB.com yet and even though i have chased up our customs and Ozzie post no one seems to have a clue as to their whereabouts. BB.com keeps telling me the are undergoing more inspections. Our customs might be slow but this package was sent back mid Jan. I am going to have to reorder and make sure it gets sent fedex, which means more money, and hope the other stuff eventually turns up. Wont run out for a while then. Its a drag but what do you do.
