Well its about 4 days after finishing my mini cut of 4 weeks. I ended up cutting it a little short because i started to lose muscle. Lost around 12kgs (26 pounds) in 4 weeks. Pretty strict and a bit too much too quick, but it was mostly fat. Now 6 weeks or so of higher carbs again and then i will strict diet for a few weeks and keep doing this regime for a while. I am starting to think that this routine will keep the fat under some sort of control without sacrificing to much muscle mass at the same time. I read that Lane Norton(natural pro) follows this sort of regime, so i am keen to give it a go. Now i am getting older i think that staying a bit closer to comp weight is better than having to diet so far out. But as always it wont happen overnight but it will happen.

Had scheduled no carb day for sunday and monday, and then being the boy genius that i am forgot that i have changed legs to monday after the restfull weekend. Talk about dumb ass thinking. Doing legs without carbs bites the big one, just falling about the gym like a two bit fool.
Anyway on a more pleasant note, got my bits and pieces from BB store today. So stoked with the aussie dollar so strong against the greenback these days, buying stuff online is so sweet for us, and i got my package delivered to my door in 6 days, big reps for BB store and fedex. Now if we were only able to get some of the supplements available to you guys life would be good. Its amazing with our free trade agreements that over the counter, buy from any shop type stuff in the US is illegal to import or have in Australia. Go figure.
Anyway another bowl of chicken awaits……….

After a bit of tinkering with the figures i think i finally have all the numbers right, its been a gradual process. Hopefully the graph will fit in the page this time, and the body will respond positively to the change.
Energy levels in the workout arena are up and down, needing a little bit more rest between sets of compound exercises. At the moment isolation exercises are done to failure.

Leg day wasnt probably the best day to tweek the carbs coming on board, especially since i ended up dropping another 40g to around 200 a day now. Talk about knackered. And whoever invented lunges really does need to be shot, talk about a burning painfull experience.
I also got the ugly stare from a trainer who didnt like the advice i gave her client as she allowed her to do an incorrect movement or technique on the seated bench. Poor girl had her elbows so high her shoulders were in such a bad position they were about to pop right out of her sockets. The instructor hadnt properly adjusted the seat and had allowed such a dangerous position to occur without even batting an eyelid, except at me when after she had walked off i said to her client drop your elbows and shoulders a little so you are actually pushing through your chest. I hate it when trainers cant be bothered to show proper form or mabye cant even be bothered to learn proper form themselves. Pulldowns are a classic.
Diet is coming along and i am still doing 5ks a day cardio, just low intensity, and i reckon i can just maybe see an ab poking out to say hello, its been a long time my friend.

Well i have had 4 days off only doing some cardio ( 2 x 5.2k walks per day) and living on the anti inflammatories still. Nearly fell of the wagon and was about to get some take out, i am talking had the key in the car ignition, before i pulled it all together and went upstairs for some rice, chicken, broccoli and carrots. Glad i did. Watched Laynes new vid this morning and am way motivated again. Its an awesome video series with Layne and Nick telling it how it is when you are truly a natural bodybuilder.
I train with guys that use the artificial vitamin "S" and as big as they get eating poorly etc, and the health issues they have to deal with, i made and maintain the morale, ethical or whatever decision to stay natural forever. I only wish I had found BB.com and a few other sites before i gave it away 8 years ago. I consider it now wasted time where i let my only body go to crap and now in my late 30’s have to start again. Now its time to make good with what i have, in the time i have, to get back on the natural stage and feel good about my choices.
AH that feels better.

Well i think the back has got the better of me and is forceing the issue with a bit of rest time. After my am cardio (5k walk) it feels OK and so i take myself of to the gym for my workout wich i then do in a bit of discomfort. Its not until i get home that the real pain kicks in. So last night it was so sore i think the decision to have a few days off might be some good advice. I grabbed some 1000mg Naprosyn and some 150mg Tramadol (pain relief) and will only do my cardio until monday.
I have previously had a L5- S1 nerve decommpression which prior to that had my right leg partially paralyised for 6 months so with the deadlifting i have been doing of late i hope i havent re - irratated it in any way. Time and anti inflammatories will tell. Ah well soldier on as they say.

Pretty quiet weekend due to what i know gather is a pinced sciatic nerve. I did an hours walking on saturday and sunday and the movent seemed to loosen up the nerve a little. Its Monday morning here now and i did an hour earlier as well and the back is a lot better. Happy with my resolve though when a mate rocked up with some just cooked still hot doughnuts. What a mongrel, but he didnt know we were dieting. As expected we have both dropped a few kgs this week, and we are increasing the cardio so should be some more yucky fat to follow.

Well after 8 odd years of no cut style dieting its all coming back to me. ‘ The first week sucks the big one". I seem to have got over that first mental hurdle now and am settling into a routine of eat and be hungry and then do it all over again. Legs took an extra 20 or so minutes yesterday but I rewarded myself with a piece of fillet steak (150gms) instead of chicken for dinner.
Have pinched a nerve in my back. Just hoping its nothing to do with prior surgery so i am not playing golf today and we have a week off from rugby so i have no coaching responsibilities today either. Looks like a day of rest watching so TV. Was planning on some sprints tomorrow will see how the back holds up.

Was trying to get my head around my 4 week cutting diet and decided there must be a better way. After spending hours going through all the nutrition threads and articles, I quickly realised that i would have to use a about a third of my daily carb allowance in my post workout meal. USing one of the calculators i worked out that i require 440 grams of carbs a day so about 150 would go to my post workout meal with the rest averaged out over the other 5 meals. 80 grams of fat and 202 grams of protien to round it out. About 25 grams too much protien but i can live with that, i am 240 pounds after all.
By the way deadlifts today were a bitch but then again when arent they.

How the hell does anyone survive on 3000 calories a day. I am not even getting to lunch time before i am falling asleep. Lunch gives me just enough energy to get a workout done, and i have added a few more carbs to my post workout meal so i dont drift of to noddy land as well.
I guess it will take a few more days to adjust to the new diet make up and then i will stop bitching and just be hungry. But no one ever got anywhere without a little bit of self sacrifice, and other dodgy cliche, if it was easy everyone would be doing it. AH well its 0930 in the morning and i think i need a lay down.
