before the judgement seat
"for we walk by faith, not by sight. yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. so whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. for we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil." 2 corinthians 5:7-10
it is so easy to lose focus of what is really important in this life. we get caught up in the things of the world, money and all that it can buy, the power of position at work, having more stuff, being seen as important to the world, having a perfect body. so many things that have our attention that we forget that we are supposed to be acting like Christ. every action we do, every word we speak, we will be held accountable for! we will be on our knees before the judgement seat of Christ! think about that for a second. all that you have on this earth will be gone, no money, no power, no stuff, just you and God. what are you going to tell Him when He asks about why you didnt help someone when you could have, or why you gossiped about those less fortunate, or why you used His name in vain, or why you wasted your life, bearing little or no fruit, why were you content to just make it in to heaven? what are you going to say? the things of this world mean nothing! we arent going to get any extra crowns or jewels because we were great by worldly standards! we will be living in the shack in heaven and the person who did what was right by the word of God, who lived and gave and treated people as Christ would have, that person will be in the mansion! we are told to walk by faith, to live this life for the kingdom!  it isnt about us, it is about HIM!! what are you doing today, tomorrow, next week to expand the kingdom? are you giving and inconviencing yourself for your neighbor, your family, your friends, your King, or are you living like the world and just thinking of yourself? Jesus, thank you that you have changed my heart! thank you for showing me that it isnt about the things of this world but rather about the things of your kingdom! forgive me for my selfishness and my lack of understanding! open my eyes and my heart that i would see as you see and do as you do!
i am the worst procrastinator in the world. one would think that if they were going to a meeting for a week that they would have everything ready and know what they were going to wear before the night before they left! not me! nope i waited until last night to try and put outfits together and decide what i was going to wear. UGHHH!! lets just say that i am not happy with anything that i have! vanity is a terrible thing! needless to say, i didnt get it all done so i got up this morning at 3:30 and prayed, read my bible and journaled and neglected the HLRs for getting ready so that i have time to pack! im such a slacker!Â
it is a very busy day today and i leave after work to head to phoenix. will spend the night there and have to be at the airport by 5 am tomorrow morning. lucky me. get into baltimore about 4ish, i think. i hear it is supposed to get cold there this weekend! good thing i bought me a nice heavy peacoat! :D
have a wonderful day everyone, i love you all!
This is really great! Thanks!
Have a safe flight! It is chilly on the east coast. Hope you have a great day! :)
You are absolutely right about the misplaced focus on 'things'. I was guilty of wanting more for years. The past two or three I've been regretting what it cost me to get there. I think the saying 'The best things in life are free' is absolutely correct.
Good stuff Doc.
yep you are truly right in your blog..we have to remember that family and not possions are important. Have a great flight and enjoy the quiet times..im assuming your kids are not going..and enjoy the warm jacket..
Safe journies Doc! When I used to travel all the stinking time I had packing for 1 week or 2 down to an art form but only from MANY trials and tribulations getting where I was going and learning the hard way what not to forget next time LOL!
You & JP have a great and SAFE visit out there! The big city creepers might just have some new moves a sweet desert gal hasn't encountered just yet but something tells me you'll put'em in their place LOL!
Don't feel bad about packing in the morning. In my days of travel, I found it best to pack in the morning. That way I don't forget anything. For example: I brush my teeth - I pack the toothbrush and toothpaste. I put on pants - I pack pants and so on. I found this method worked well to make sure I don't forget anything. The Lord be with you during your travels.
