| My 50 Pound Weight Loss Story

I grew up an avid athlete, through high school I was into sports, then college came along, I still played sports but my lifestyle choices were not very good. I was partying and drinking a lot, staying up late hours of the night, eating horribly including very late at night. I was able to get away with that behavior for a short period of time until it caught up with me big time. My little 120 pound body grew to around 150 pounds within the matter of three months. I was disgusted with myself for a while and started making some positive choices in my life that helped me get my weight back down…. by my senior year of college I was once again at a comfortable size for my body and I was making healthy choices for the most part. I moved from the beautiful hills of Vermont to the amazing mountains of Utah and once again was good at leading a balanced lifestyle, not too much partying, not too much drinking and plenty of exercise. I started personal training and getting into the fitness industry and was absolutely hooked on it. I got the chance to work on a cruise ship at that point in time, a great opportunity, I would be able to travel the world and teach fitness at the same time! Doesn’t get much better than that. Unfortunately, once on the ship I fell back into old lifestyle patterns that were reminiscent of my college years. Too much drinking and making horrible food choices caused me to gain more weight than I had ever had on my body in my life. I was around 170 pounds at my heaviest, despite the fact that I was the fitness director! I got off the ship and was completely depressed and angry with myself for what I had allowed to happen. When my sister saw me for the first time after a year, she didn’t even have to say anything… it was written all over her face that she was shocked at what I had let happen to myself. That was it… I had to start making better choices… but it was still a slow process for me. I got myself down to about 160 and kind of stayed there for a while… but inside I was not happy.. I was beating myself up everyday and couldn’t seem to break free of the poor eating habits that had allowed to be a part of my life. Then came July 5, 2005…. I had moved to San Antonio, TX and I was actually working at a gym in town. I had been talking about competing for a good three years at this point, but had yet to make any serious commitments. Well my time had finally come… a friend said to me… “Diana, what are you waiting for?” I had a breakthrough right then and there. I was ready, it was time, it was the moment I had hoped would eventually come for me when I was finally motivated to make the postive and healthy choices that would literally transform my body and my life. I started training for my first show that day… I started learning as much as I could about diet and nutrition. I ate right, I exercised and I stayed motivated and stepped on stage at my first show 18 weeks later and took home first place. My life has never been the same since that moment. Over the course of my training I had lost around 50 pounds and had turned into a lean mean muscle machine. I felt like I could accomplish anything, and I also realized that I had finally found my passion in life… I was completely hooked and now my ultimate goal is to aid others in pursuit of their dream bodies and ultimately the pursuit and achievement of their dreams. Changing your body can change your life… it doesn’t mean you have to be a competitor, but making healthy and positive choices will affect every aspect of your life including your relationships, your career, your health, your personal self confidence and so much more. I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
