Getting back on track

Monday, March 31st, 2008

this past weekend,  my husband competed in the Vancouver WA npc natural show and won both the mens masters over 40 and the overall.  Totally awesome — he looked his best ever.  FUN!!!!   I did not workout at all last week-  kept my nutrition on track but still lost a couple lbs— that I did not want to loose.  So I will be hitting the gym today to get that muscle back!   I’m do not worry about getting lean and ripped just holding onto muscle.  But heck I’m 50 and still making gains.  So here we go— contest is in Sept then onto Worlds in Nov.

Time to rock-n-roll and now my husband gets to crack that whip!  Game plan is on!

Training speed bump

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Training is going great, strength up –body wt is stable even with more food and bodyfat dropped slightly to 10.2  I am approx 23 weeks out and within 6-8 lbs of contest wt.  Feeling great.  This next week is peak week for my husband– he competes March 29th so We are focusing on his last week.  I will just get in what I can but this is his time so he needs me to get him there (practise posing, get meals and final workouts etc.)  It will be fun seeing him on stage!

On Tue I attepted 80 lb db on flat bench press.  It was a first for me ( I had just done 75 #’s for 4 reps).  I lowered the wt but felt my right arm weaken so the guys just took the wt.  I feel now I can attempt it this next wk and be successful.  I was just a bit intimidated with the new big wt.  Specially since I only weigh 124.  Totally cool I almost did it.  If my head would have been in it I would have done it– but I was fearful that first try.  Dang it anyway!  You must focus totally and trust your spotters!

Competition planning & prep begins for 9/13/08 show

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

After being forced to take last year off– related to Surgery and injuries I am well on my way to compete this year.  My sites are set for WNBF pro-internationals 9/13 in Kansas City, 9/20 WNBF pro-masters cup and finally end the year 11/9 in NY for WNBF Worlds championships.  My strength took months to come back and injuries are well healed.  I’m up to full speed.  Working all year with Dr. Joe Klemczewski to try and increase muscle density/strength to come in my best to date.  My bodyfat goal for stage is 6%— currently I am only 10.4%.  I am just always very lean–my body type (hard gainer).  I am so impressed how even at 50yrs of age I am still making gains.  I just love what I do!  every time I prepare for a contest my goal is to come in better than the previous show.  I call contest prep my science project— just to see what I can make this body do.  It’s fun for me!

My husband is my biggest supporter!  we do this together and it is how we met.  We just franchised with Dr. Joe "The Diet Doc" and so far our clients in just a couple wks have lost more than an adult large male in wt.  So very rewarding to help others.  As a nurse I see too much sadness and illness related to obesity and a sedentary lifestyle.  I am very proud to be a part of this community! one of health and fitness.  All of you guys have touched someones life without even knowing it.  Thanks

I’ll post more along my way on this years journey to hopefully motivate others.   Now to get my bootie ready for the gym and to push my husband who is competing at the end of the month.  He is already down to 4% with his goal to reach 3%  looking "peeled"  I heard that is the new word for ripped/shredded.  :)

Stay focused everyone—make this part of your life in a healthy balanced way!!!!
