Hello Washington State natural Competitors, sponsors, judges, and fellow promoters;
First of all, we would like to personally thank you for making all of our events so successful!
As of Sept 11 2009, we are no longer affiliated with the INBF. For several reasons that specifically hinge upon what is best for our athletes, we are terminating our contract with the INBF/WNBF. It has been a wonderful 4 years, but it is time that we move on. Our future lies with the North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation (NANBF/OCB). This is a much stronger entity, they have many, many more competitions, and they deeply care about promoters and athletes. They have endorsed us, and have vowed to support, and help us grow even stronger here in Washington , and on the west coast. Please understand that this will in no way affect you as a competitor, nor will it change the actual presentation of our “ Washington State Natural contest”. Our Sister Contest in Sacramento California “Capital City contest” has also made the change! and together we are strong in our support for Natural Bodybuilding.
Our new website will launch in the next couple of days, and will be forthcoming with lots of new information and resources. Our annual Washington State event is slated for Aug 7th, 2010 at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center in the Arlington High School .
As always, we are here to answer any questions that you may have, and to help in any way that we can in assisting you to be the best natural bodybuilder that you can be. Please always feel free to call us: 360-653-7414
PS Get excited for an awesome New Year with a truely amazing and supportive Organization. This has become a blessing in disquise for us here on the West Coast and opens many doors for us as promoters and as amateur and Professional competitors. In Sacramento next July 17th Bob and Tina will host their first pro/am show. We will become a pro/am show in the year 2011. But as a great incentive for our show this coming year we are awarding overall pro-card winners fees to help them get to their first pro show. Which after ours in Aug is the Kansas City pro/am show in Sept– promoted by Fred and Jan Rowlette.
Lets all show the country we are here!!!! God bless, train hard and no injuries!!!
Sincerely
Kevin and Denise James

On Nov 8th in New York City the Worlds championships were held with INBF & WNBF athletes from all over the world. This was my first trip to NY and it won’t be my last!!! The city is crazy and fun and totally awesome!
I met so many new people and now friends from all over the world. It was an amazing experience! I could not believe the high caliper of athletes there and in top condition. I had tons of butterflys dancing in my belly! To my delight I placed 5th in the pro-womens bodybuilding light wt class (yay top 5 in the world)!!!
Then for the heck of it and to do something new I entered the amature INBF Ms. Fit Body (big overseas bb posing in heels)– as I was lining up to go on stage– all the girls were 1/2 my age with tight young bodies— I just thought OMG I’m gonna get my bootie kicked. But I’m gonna have fun doing it and give it my best— no one will ever say I didn’t get out there and try. Well to my surprise I placed 2nd!!! and I did not fall off those heels hahahaha.
Everyone back stage were visiting taking photos, lots of laughter & hugs. It was crowded but we all managed to share the space and get pumped up. The show ran smoothly, I can’t say enough good about the promoters and the organization. We were all treated like VIP’s. Then it was time to celebrate with friends and enjoy the city. We stayed a couple days and went on a tour by one the the athletes who is from there. My legs still hurt from all the walking and my belly from all the food. Now it’s time to regroup and get my game plan ready for this coming year. I’m not ready to retire yet!!!!!! I’ll post some photos soon.
Having my husband there to share everything which was priceless. I couldn’t have done it without him– he kept me grounded and got me to where I needed to be— not just physically but mentally as well. I was in my best condition to date. Ripped and only 6% bodyfat, fully hydrated and fed with muscles full and body vascular. Peak week was a charm even after a long flight. It’s amazing how at 51 I am still making positive gains and improving. Totally love it!

KC was humid and wet, yes Ike’s out reached caused quite a storm on show day. Fred and Jan Rowlett run a smooth organized show. 2 stages at one time, pros on one and there amature show (NANBF golds classic) on the other. Great venue.
I was in the Pro womens bodybuilding light wt class. We were up first, I was so excited to be on stage with 3 of last years top 5 champs at Worlds. Felt like a kid at Christmas and totally star struck. I just never emagined I would ever make it this far. This is so much fun for me, it was so exciting and such a postive vibe in the air. To my surprise the judges had moved me toward the middle next to last years Worlds Champ. My heart was beating so hard, all I could think of was am I posing my best— be big, be big. I ended up placing 3rd and in the money. When I saw my score sheet I had some 2nd place votes as well. I was thrilled!!!!
I also for the heck of it, and since I am 51 and don’t know how many years I will be able to put this body on stage showing improvements and not just an old lady. So I entered a pro-qualifing Masters Figure (over 40) I was the oldest in the class. I have long legs, got to pose relaxed to not be too muscular, it was just fun. Of course my big concern was to not fall on my butt with those 4 1/2 inch heels. I can’t believe it but I won!!! I now have a pro-card in both figure and bodybuilding!! thru out the natural organization I believe I am one of only a handfull of women world wide to have pro-status in both and I have the physique to be very competitive and do well in both. Just blows my mind that at 51 I have accomplised this!!!!
My next goal is to be in the top 5 in bodybuilding at Worlds in NY this Nov 8th. Less than a month away I am working hard to come in my best, to totally enjoy the journey and have a good time with great people. I have never been to NY so we are staying a couple extra days to take in some sites. Then back home we will have a huge NO DIET party!!!!
Working out and bodybuilding must be a lifestyle you love and you must keep site why you do it. It is soooo amazing that we can continue to improve even as we age, to the age we thought when we were kids was "old as dirt"!
Never give up, magic happens even if you do not have thee perfect genetics.

8 days and counting! OK I am officially nervous and excited. This is my first time to compete in two years. I am feeling ready and ripped! but I always stress my legs till the last min. I’ve had the cuts dissapear right at prejudging right when I need those babies to show. The goal is to keep the muscles full to maximum compassity and keep the cuts deep. I have Dr. Joe Klemczewski on my team and he is the best. Along with my major support and workout partner my husband. Ya know when you walk out on stage, it’s a team effort that brought you there! I am very proud of my awesome team. I do this because I love it, some people can lose site of that and only think of the trophy. My goal is to always come in better than the last time and I already know I have done that. So never lose site of why you do this. OK I am rambling - need to practise posing! Peak week starts this Sat, it will be interesting flying to KS from Seattle Wed having to consume 1 1/2 gal of water!!!!

In natural organizations there is a fine line between bodybuilding and figure for the majority of athletes (some exceptions: Mary F, Katy H, Nancy A, Joan L etc–but never say never ). As a competitor, judge and promoter–I always say figure is just bodybuilders accessorized. But this is where the art of posing/presentation comes in. In figure you stand tall, curvatious and tight to show muscle definition/symmetry, then in bodybuilders you pose big and hard to bring out extra striations, vasularity and bulging muscle bellies to create that X an art of illusions.
My love is bodybuilding but my body type is an “I” wanna be “X” (tall, lean and narrow) thru posing I create an illusion of being an X and bigger than I actually am. One day this aging athlete just may try figure before my time on stage is over.
It is great seeing a young athlete like Kori accomplish this, that’s why I encourage all women to try both. Some shows do not allow athletes to cross over but the majority of natural shows do.
Congrats again to Kori and the team behind her!!!!!
This is team member Kori who just competed this past weekend in an INBF show back east. Thru these photos you can see that she is a very versitile young athlete. She just won both her WNBF pro status in bodybuilding and figure.
As a WNBF pro bodybuilder I am planning on my next pro show this Sept in KS and I hope to also compete in the ame portion of the show in master’s figure. Why not!!!! Now lets see if I can manage the 5″ heels?!?!?!

I did it! on tue I attempted flat bench db press with 80 pounders and I had just finished my last set with 75’s x 5 reps. Got my mind set and just did it! Of course I had someone on ea side of me just in case. Which makes you feel safe and stronger. I am also curling 90 #’s with standing ez bar curls and at the end of my back workout I am getting out 20 pullups. Not bad and I only weigh 124. When you get the mind set and totally focus with perfect form you can move more than you think. It’s true that we are really stronger than we think– it takes a good spotter to push you thru that you feel safe with. I am now offically on show count down with 19 wks to go. Praying to stay injury free and make this year my best.
I will be quest posing with 3 other WNBF female pro’s at the INBF Capital City Championships this July 12 in Sacramento CA. It will be a blast just to be on stage with these ladies having fun.
Remember you have to have the mind set and focus, but the knowledge to know when and how.

this past weekend, my husband competed in the Vancouver WA npc natural show and won both the mens masters over 40 and the overall. Totally awesome — he looked his best ever. FUN!!!! I did not workout at all last week- kept my nutrition on track but still lost a couple lbs— that I did not want to loose. So I will be hitting the gym today to get that muscle back! I’m do not worry about getting lean and ripped just holding onto muscle. But heck I’m 50 and still making gains. So here we go— contest is in Sept then onto Worlds in Nov.
Time to rock-n-roll and now my husband gets to crack that whip! Game plan is on!

Training is going great, strength up –body wt is stable even with more food and bodyfat dropped slightly to 10.2 I am approx 23 weeks out and within 6-8 lbs of contest wt. Feeling great. This next week is peak week for my husband– he competes March 29th so We are focusing on his last week. I will just get in what I can but this is his time so he needs me to get him there (practise posing, get meals and final workouts etc.) It will be fun seeing him on stage!
On Tue I attepted 80 lb db on flat bench press. It was a first for me ( I had just done 75 #’s for 4 reps). I lowered the wt but felt my right arm weaken so the guys just took the wt. I feel now I can attempt it this next wk and be successful. I was just a bit intimidated with the new big wt. Specially since I only weigh 124. Totally cool I almost did it. If my head would have been in it I would have done it– but I was fearful that first try. Dang it anyway! You must focus totally and trust your spotters!
