Can We Talk?……
OK, I need to rant! It’s the Holidays and everyone’s baking & giving gifts - yada, yada, yada. I’m no Scrooge and I was actually in a really good mood, but I just need to bitch…..
I love my mom very much — I really do. But she knows more than anyone else how I eat and how much I obsess about fitness. Well every chance she gets, she buys me my fave freshly-made buttercreams & gives them to me. Birthday, Mothers Day, you name it….. If I eat one, I have to eat the whole box - not in the same day, but give me a few days and they are gone! Then I’m mad! So of course, she gave me a big box last night - even tho I always say I don’t want them in my house. My point is — Why does it seem like the people closest to you are always trying to sabbatage you??
I know she means well, but I’ve said it a MILLION times! She should have been a professional baker because she makes incredible choc chip cookies, pb layered brownies, the list goes on & she makes them and brings them to my house!!! By the dozens — ALL the time!! She says they are for the kids — well somehow my kids don’t have much of a sweet tooth & they sit & sit. I am constantly surrounded by delicious sweets!
When I am bored & have a weak moment it is way too easy to dive in! Apparently I do have pretty good will-power because I rarely let myself eat them, but it certainly tests me! I just hear it so often - ‘Just have one - it won’t hurt you’ or ‘it’s winter, you’re supposed to gain a little weight’ - I know you all can relate! I guess our dedication is just always being tested. It makes us stronger - right?? LOL
So I guess I’m done - It’s just something we all have to deal with. We choose this lifestyle & can’t expect others to play by our rules. We always get our revenge when the swim suits come out (LOL) Then we hear - OMG you look amazing! Like it is SO shocking to them! But no one wants to hear how to eat to feel and look good. Oh well!
It sure would be nice to be surrounded by people who ate like me - no junk in the house - WOW I can’t even imagine!! Maybe someday!
That’s why we have Bodyspace
So everyone hang in there! We can do it! Just say NO & don’t hang out by the food!! And MOM – I love you, but please stop sending over goodies! They are so yummy but they go straight to my waist & ass!!!!!!!!! LOL
Happy Holidays Everyone!!!!

I was given a bag of chocolate covered almonds (my personal weakness). They sat in my desk all quiet and unassuming, knowing that soon enough I would come running to them driven by pure desire for their sweet, chocolately goodness. While I have been extremely good so far, in a moment of weakness I caved and ate waaaaay too many. I have since purged my desk of all the remaining temptors for fear of a relapse. : (

so many think food equals love. i rather have tough love and have someone tell me NOT to eat that it is going straight to my ass

Sing it sister. I’m deployed and cookies and sugar = love from those back home. Everyone is getting fat and it’s incredibly hard to have willpower when everyone around you is saying "mmmm oh god these are soo delicious." and then you try them and bam, they are delicious. and you feel guilty for tossing things that people gave you because they put hard work and time into them. My best idea has been to regift regift regift, there is always someone with less willpower than me. Happy Holidays!

Sabotage the goodies by sprinkling them with Comet or something. This way you won’t eat them!

My dad is a great cook, and I have to be smart not to vex him and not to gain weight…
Christmas is difficult! So so far I’ve escaped chocolates, sweet things and rich food…
I have found a trick to escape the chocolates at the end of the meal, I chose almonds, nuts and dried fruit while they eat chocolates

LOL. I have exactly the same problem-especially at the office. There is literally a TABLE that they take out just to put all the treats, chocolates, etc. that people bring in/we get mailed in from our clients & I have to pass it at least a million times a day. Great job on not faltering. I managed to stay strong yesterday too but you sure are right-it’s hard because when you pass things up that other people are having it forces them to think about their poor choices which they don’t want to do so they try to project those feelings onto you. It’s also unfortunate that for so many people, the best way they know how to express their love is with food, but I find it easier when I notice the correlation between the people eating the chocolates every time they pass the table & their ever-expanding waistlines… WE CAN DO IT

My mom is the same way lol. Keep staying strong! We on here will stick together and keep getting fit and staying fit
! Maybe you can send them off to school with your kids and they can give them to the teachers? I think next year, what you should do, is get them all work out videos or gym memberships! That way, you can say that you want them to eat healthy and live healthy. So you can bring them your lifestyle change and they might stop tempting you with those foods
.

Hey good post. I completely understand you asking about the closest people sabotaging you. I think its because your success shows them up. When you are on track it exposes their lack.

I completely understand!!!
NOBODY in my house eats clean and it’s so hard espically because I’m right in the beginning phase!!!
You kinda wish you could surround yourself with people who shared your dedication and your eating lifestyle!!
