Humpty Dumpty Falls…Again?
Yes, I am assuming the title “Humpty Dumpty yet again. I’ve fallen and I WILL get up.
The fall I mention this time is a more subtle one in comparison to the one that led to my recently torn ACL. This one was calculated. I mathematically figured that I could wreck any semblance of a healthy meal day and still be “ok in the morning. This warped thinking initiates the demise of healthy success.
No, I am not indulging in the wonderful culinary delectable dishes which so many competitors are partaking. (Chicken breast, protein powder, egg whites) But this should not give me a “free pass everyday, all day long. I used the inclement weather as an excuse to consumewhatever was in the house. Shopping was not a viable option with the accumulation and far from ephemeral ice on the roadways.
Well, I ate an entire bag of Oreo cookies (I don’t even like chocolate, but they were sweet and satisfied my sweet tooth). To balance the Oreo’s with something savory, I devoured a bag of Flavor Blasted Goldfish. Both were started and finished after I finished a half bag of Teddy Grahms this afternoon. [Note: these were NOT individual serving bags. These were full, multi-serving items.]
My calculations were skewed nonetheless. Usually, I don’t let this type of erratic behavior bother me. Today it has. Today marks 5 consecutive days in which I did not work out. Worse, I made no attempt. I even failed to do my knee re-hab exercises today. (I did do a lot of indoor walking … room to room) Tomorrow, I will do better. Anything is better than nothing. Rain, sleet and/or snow:I AM getting Physical tomorrow!!!

Ouch - \"tough love by Xtreme. I\’m gonna\’ log out now. When I return, I WILL have a postitive progress report…whoa!

Aha! I worked out for 55 minutes this a.m. Notice how I didn’t round up and report 1 full hour. Feeling a little "accountable" especially after Xtreme’s "tough love.". I plan to do another 45 mins. this evening…and shun eating "junk food". Garbage In…Garbage Out.

IT IS HARD TO GET MY MORNING CARDIO GOING IN THIS WEATHER, WED MORN I GOT 30 MIN ON MY BIKE AT HOME, TODAY I HAVE A DATE WITH THE LEG PRESS,EXT, AND SQUAT RACK. THIS IS MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE WEEK, WHEN EVERYONE IS BENCH PRESSING I AM TALKING SMACK TO THE 12 PLATE ON THE LEG PRESS. THEN MORE FUN WITH 3-4 PLATE ON THE SQUAT RACK. GOOD THINGS START FROM THE GROUND UP.

Thats for your comments. Funny, everyone not in the fitness community tells me "oh that can’t be healthy," and it is funny because they are the ones out of shape and overweight. So long as I get my vits, mins, and my macro nutrients correct I feel like I will make big gains.

Aurgh this weather does suck! I think instinct takes us over and tells us to pack on some bodyfat. Get going back at it - especially with your knee exercises - can’t skimp on those now!
and isn’t it awesome that we can lean on each other here!

You are in such great shape, I’m sure a one day oreo fest won’t ruin it…it’s probably more the psychological effect than the physical right? You will bounce back!
have a great day!

This was the best blog I have read, ok so it is not pulitzer material but woman it spoke mountains. I have and do the same things you mentioned in this blog. I never realized how detrimental it was to my healthy success. Thanks for sharing your off days as I have had more than I need since my goal is far off but still around the corner. Everyday needs to be a day towards my fitness goals not against them. Tomorrow I will do better as well.
