2007…New Year, More Accomplishments

So, today is the first day of the year 2007, and we are all calculating our New Year’s resolutions, right?  Well, I’ll share mine with you all…but, please share yours too.

My 2007 New Year’s Resolution is probably not a surprise to most.  I plan to Re-Hab, Re-Hab, Re-Hab my left, 10/15/06, reconstructed ACL.  During this time (Jan. -Mar. ‘07), I’ll be methodically eating and lifting to gain 10-15 lbs., mostly lean muscle. This will be a challenge (I’m so used to these) as I have never weighed this much in my thirty-four years of life.

Then, I will chisel and sculpt a strong, lean body with a total mass of 122-125 lbs., perhaps in time to enter the 2007 IFBB Qualifier North American Figure Competition. Nonetheless, I will not rush results of my rehabilitation efforts.  I want to perform the best as I can with the time allotted.

And hey, no worries…I’ll be 35 years young at the end of 2007…thus qualifying me for the Master’s category in Figure competitions.   Although this was not previously anticipated, I am excited to seriously contemplate continuing my Figure career/adventure well beyond a time frame ever imagined.   I am sure to return to the stage as soon as I am phyically ready.  I’m not out yet…nor do I plan on it.   ~Dawn Melanie~

Just like you I will be doing re-hab, I started last week on working my knee. I have alot of pain right now but I have been working through it. How hard was it to move around post surgery, what am I to expect. For some reason I have it in my head that I will be walking in a week.

Injured ACL? For me, the 1st two weeks were absolutely horrible! Pain, couldn’t get around (except with whelchair and crutches)…but it was really tough because I could not bend it at all for the 1st week.I had to wear that brace 24/7…bed-yes…and it was soooo painful to stand…so showering was major pain (my husband assisted)…OH NO…I don’t wanna’ scare you..sorry :-(

  3. Pungerer Says:

Best of Luck to you in the New year.

You did not scare me one bit, if you can do it so can I. I tore my meniscus and they are putting my knee back in line. My knee cap is off to the side so you can imangine me walking, plus i have bone spurs in the back of my knee and that right there can either make or break my day……….:)

  5. dtrek930 Says:

You\’ll be fine. Sounds like no drilling of holes in your bones. I had holes drilled in my tibia and femur …so they could attach my \"new\" ACL through them and then insert bone plugs. It\’s actually not as weird to me as the titanium screws I got in my foot 2 weeks ago (Bunionectomy). Hey, again …you\’ll be fine. When do you \"go under the knife\"? lol

  6. tantra Says:

They are digging to my bone, the doc said he has to cut in to the bone to turn it inward. He also said that when he does that the muscles in my thigh and downward will be alined again. Then he will move my knee cap over, my surger will be in the 16th. I keep telling myself I will do fine, I have in the past.

  7. dtrek930 Says:

No doubt, I’ll keep you in my prayers. I take it this is not your 1st surgery. Am I correct with that assumption? Also, what caused this need for surgery? What is more Important is to take care of it. And it sounds like you are taking measures to do just that. Good Job.

  8. tantra Says:

This will be my 6th one, in 10 years. I am one of those that falls apart. I took a step off a stair and I dislocated my knee and in the process tore my meniscus. I have had knee problems since I was 7 and it was due to both my knees being off track. I want to do what I can to keep on going, even if my leg does not agree with me. Ty for listening to me.

I hope to see both of you ladies up and back in appropriate working order. Will follow both your recovery paths.

    All my best!

I had a woman on my myspace page who was body building at age 86! She’d gotten into it at age 72 when she had trouble carrying groceries… so the story goes. That made me even more inspired. I don’t ever imagine myself competing, but the bennies will be there whether i compete or not.
    CHEERS!!

  11. lbross Says:

Keep training hard! I know re-habbing sucks big time. You have a good attitude about it! And now a fellow Master’s competitor too. I hope to see you out there on the stage in 2007!

  12. dtrek930 Says:

Yep - re-habbing is a task…but necessary. Unfirtunately, my 35th B-day occurs in Nov. ‘07 - so I’ll probably miss the 2007 season to compete as a "Master’s Figure Competitor"…but I wish you the Best …and may even see you at a National Show this year …as you plan…I am still shooting for returning to the National stage in ‘07. See ya’ soon…

  13. dtrek930 Says:

That says it all. And I would like to wish you the same, "Mr. DawnMarie". Gosh -I can’t say your name without giggling….heheeheehe! Take Care.
