AGONY of Defeat

Well, my 2006 NPC Figure competition year ended prematurely.  The evening (9/13) that I was packing for my trip to Cleveland, OH for the North American Championship (9.16/06), I busted my knee.  It’s confirmed that I tore the ACL and other rather extensive damage.  Irony - hours before, I worked LEGS.  Yes, lunges, hack squats, etc.
So, I have an appt. with a specialist to discuss the “future” expectations and plans for my injured knee.    I guess this really throws a mokey wrench in my initial plan to build, build, build leg muscle this upcoming “off-season” before the ‘07 Jr. USA Championship.
Any words of advice from others  who may have had a similar injury?

Keep up the good attitude! Remember positive attitude speeds recovery — but you know that because you’ve learned to "appreciate the negatives"!

Yep - I guess this is one of those "negatives." My 1999 diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis was a major Negative that I Appreciate every day. I’m sure I’ll appreciate this too. Everything happens for a reason.

Wow, well if that were me I’d have a hard time seeing the positive, at least at first. So, if you’re feeling down about it, I’d commiserate with you. Knee pain SUCKS! If you are, however, staying positive about it, then good for you! Stay strong! =)

In 2004 I covered a competiton for Bodybuilding.com and met two very inspiring people, Shana Martin who was injured while competing and Ryan Ortizo who had really serious birth isues to overcome. So just remember that you will come out of this even better than what you were if you only keep going. That’s all it takes. The story is at http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/other29.htm
