I was out for the count for a bit.  Had a few health issues but I am back and better than ever.  I lost 14 pounds this month.  That I am happy about.  Workouts are picking up and more fat will be melting and muscle will be building.  Keep going strong.  Make every moment count.

How do you stay motivated?

Motivation

I imagine this is different for everyone.  You really have to find out what drives you to push forward even when you don’t feel like it.  Its easy to say you want to accomplish or do something.  Finding the power to keep you headed in the right the direction is the hard part.

For me, I am very goal orientated and competitive in many areas.   My larger life list is a big motivator for me.  It’s what makes me feel like I am living life to the fullest.  I get a sense of accomplishment and self worth every time I get mark something completed.   One of the great parts of the list is the fact that it covers all aspects of a person – mind, body, soul – financial, relationships, activities, physical, and spiritual.  Plus truly it’s never ending.  I add to mine still and it was created several years ago.

I have a vision board that keeps the things I want to accomplish in front of me all the time.  It’s a constant reminder of what I want.  Plus when others ask about it, it’s another source of motivation.  Now someone knows.  You have to accomplish it.  You’re held accountable.  Another great thing about someone knowing, doors open.  You would be surprised at who will help you succeed.

Other success principles include:

·        reading you goals daily

·        buying something you want such an outfit in a size smaller so you have something to work towards

·         using your meeting reminder on the computer to pop up a message about your goal

·        pictures, measurements, and weigh in on a regular basis

·        notes on the refrigerator or bathroom sink.

·        Send a note to a friend and ask them to check on you on a certain date.  Better yet use it like blackmail.  If you don’t respond by a certain date, they are to send out an email, picture, note or something to a list of persons that you supplied.

·        Ask yourself everyday if what you are doing is going to help you be the best that you can be.  If it isn’t moving you towards what you want most, its not worth doing.

·        Find a partner in crime.  Someone that will push you when you need it.  Dig deep and make a challenge.  Some people find a friendly wager to be motivating.  It doesn’t have to be monetary.  Just imagine reach your goal and your friend having to mow your lawn for a month or make you a healthy dinner or take that salsa dance class with you.  Get creative.

I think the easiest way to put this.  Make sure you have your priorities in order.  If you don’t truly want this goal, you wont make it happen.  That’s the difference between those that say they want to lose weight and those that do it.  Find the reason with in you and constantly remind yourself of why you are wanting it.

Well I hope this answers that question.  Ask me anything, I am an open book.

Life is Good

Monday, June 1st, 2009

I spent the weekend soaking up the sun at the water park and riding roller coasters.  There was a time when I dread the stairs.  Now I look forward to them.  See what this building a better body thing does to you?  It twists your mind into looking at everything as a form of exercise.  At least those steps weren’t on the stair climbers.  Those suck.  I really felt my hinny and legs by the time we had done several flights. I did find myself doing calf raises when I had to wait in the line.   Over all I feel like I did my body some good and had fun at the same time.

The zoo is another place to get really good exercise.  Seriously they have great hills.  Obviously you’re not going to keep your heart rate up a lot if you stop at each exhibit but overall it’s a great place to log some steps and just be more physically active.  It’s a lot better than sitting in front of a television.

Tonight I will have a quick cardio session or maybe I will just do some heavy benching.  I don’t have much time because I am going to the cardinal game.  I have fabulous seats.  Three rows behind the dugout.  I am up so close I should be able to see some muscle definition.  Lol

This week is going to be a challenge all the way around.   I have a friend visiting for the next two weeks.  So I will be spending a lot of time showing him around St Louis and helping him find an apartment.  I will try to get in more am workouts.  I refuse to be set back when I just started losing again.  12 pounds in two weeks.  Not to shabby.

Well have to run.  Make this week count.  Stay Motivated.
