Blog Entry

When you start out on the road to being health there are so many bumps in the road and paths to take.  You have to learn so many things.  Identify your bad habits.  Learn how to replace them with good ones.  You have to develop ways to stay motivated and pushing forward.  Develop a support group.  Your constantly learning about nuitrition, exercise, the "healthy" lifestyle, and yourself.  Its so easy to get overwhelmed and not know where to begin.

They say that successful people read at least four nonfiction books a month on the subject that they are trying to excel in.  After looking at the successful people here, I was wondering what they read.  So let me know.

As far as myself, I read just about any fitness magazine I can get my hands on.  I also have read Body for life, Eating for Life, and the Eating Clean Book.  Thanks to a friend of mine I obtained a copy of Feed the Muscle Burn the Fat. (outstanding book).  The Success Principles and Seven Habits of Highly Successful people also rank high on my reading list.  So whats your recommendation?

I get my information from all types of sources, from magazines, online, experts in seminars I attend, and one or two people in the gym who have the type of body I want to have. I like to get my information from a vairety of sources because no one place can give you all of the info you need. The magazines are great for inspriration and to learn what excercises to perform, but I can’t think I will get the results they have. I am natural, and most are not. Even the guys you talk to in the gym lie, they lie about their diet, supplements etc. So I think variety is the key. And never rely on supplement company info. they are the biggest liars of all.

Like ninjabill, I love me some laptop! YouTube rocks. And like cjacks9, I agree that variety is a good thing. I’m a dedicated bookworm, however and have a ton of fitness books. Recently purchased Tosca Reno’s tome as well as Jay Cutler’s CEO Muscle. Another favorite is David Zinczenko’s The Abs Diet.

Oh, and most anything written by Ellington Darden. He’s the one who recommended 1500 calories a day for rapid weight loss. Of course I think he said for two weeks. I’ve been doing it for ten weeks. I’ve lost two pounds each week, though, so it’s definitely something that works over the longer haul as well as for initial rapid weight reduction.
