Thinking like fit person

I think that one of the hardest things to do is to change my way of thinking and not fall back on the bad habits that I accumulated as a fat person.  I see all of these wonderful bodies that you all have worked so hard to achieve and tell myself, I have to learn to think like them.

What do you eat? How do you exercise? What keeps you motivated?  How do you overcome obsticles that fall in your way?  Why take this supplement or that one? This is the mind set and the knowledge that I am struggling to achieve.

The things that seem so basic to you, because you have been doing it for so long, are a struggle to the beginners like me.  I have to remind myself to eat six small meals a day and to make sure that I have protein at each one.  I have to remind myself that it took time to put on the thick layer of fat and it will take time for the progress of thinking like a fit person to show through.  I have to fake it until I make it.  I have to take time everyday to visualize my success.  To see myself looking fabulous and sexy in an evening gown cut high on the leg and low in the back.  I have to post reminders of good habits everywhere.

The body I want will be mine in time.  I will have the right attitude, the knowledge and the power.  Until then I will continue to surround myself with fitness magazines and fit people that I can interogated.

You’ve already got the edge on this one steph, you can visualize exactly what you want and have a community of support at your disposal.
Keep at it, you’re doin great

You know I love this subject; it goes along with my Body Image blog.

In my opinion, the best thing that you can do is pay very close attention to how you already view yourself. Even to the point of scrutinizing which words you use to describe yourself. For instance, you used the term fat person above.. as though that’s actually a different type of person.

You’ll be the exact same person after you reach your target weight and BF%, that you were before you started.

Like Dave said, continue to visualize what you want. See yourself at the finish line, visualize what that will look like and feel like. Then carry yourself accordingly, RIGHT NOW! Walk with your chest out, your shoulders back, your head held high, and your booty out too! :)

Be confident now; and love who you are now. Enjoy the increased stamina and energy that you have, and use that to propel you on to greater gains.. the whole while visualizing yourself having what you want.

Compliment yourself more, be encouraged by the progress you feel in your muscles.

As far as everything else, it will definitely all fall into place. Also, keep gleaning information from some of these great examples here! I love it too!!

Wow sounds like you really turned your way of thinking around. The most important muscle is the mind without it you wouldn’t be able to do anything. Visualization is one of the most important aspects of whatever you do. Even Arnold had to start somewhere. Who would’ve thought that a 15 year old 150lb 6′0 boy could become Mr. Olympia. Arnold thought he could become the greatest and that was all that mattered.
