Stress and Lifting

Ok I am putting this out to anyone who can give me a decent answer.

I am stressed out today from work, and I went home and lifted up a great sweat. Good burn.

Now was this this the right thing to do or not. Some have said not to lift when you are stressed, some say do it then.

Well? Was this a good idea or not.

I have also heard the same thing! I was looking all over the body building web and couldn’t find anything related to this "stress" topic! I personally have been more reluctant to lift at the gym while stressed and I have been able to lift heavy for long periods of time! I suggest just using a trial and error type of deal because some people say not to lift stressed. What everyone seems to miss is the fact that all bodies are made differently and we are in control of them.

jbowman, you are correct in the statement that we are all different and what works for one may not work for everyone. The one thing I have read before about stress is that it can sometimes lead to injuries by way of not being able to stay focused and lifting sloppy which will obviously cause an injury. Trying to lift too much because you are mad and stressed will also get you hurt, etc., etc. I personally have a heavy bag and a speed bag that I can beat the hell out of if I need a stress reliever. I have also had many good workouts when I needed to release some anger from stress. BE SMART and listen to your body. It will tell you if you are overdoing it.
