I agree with KC consistency is the key to success! Also taking progress pics are great to have weather you post them here or not, just take them. Seeing the changes you make will keep you rocking towards your goal.

This might cause a bit of controversy but I would advise that you do eat after 18:00. If your next meal is breakfast that is a long time to go without putting fuel in the tank!

I know hard it can be in the military and that you willl have heard this all befiore but try to eat smaller regular meals; that provide enough calories to support your activity level whilst putting you into a slight calorific deficit.

Eating too little can put your body into 'starvation mode' and slow your metabolism down even further!

With regards to the APFT there are a number of programs designed to help individuals pass it; doesn't your unit PTI's run assisted programs?

Anyhoo don't sweat it; grit your teeth and stay with the course! Remeber there's no luck involved as luck is a by product of dedication!

Hey, Good work... I know what it is like to work really hard and have results that bum you out. It takes time... I had a personal trainer for about 2 months, and it made a difference. But as my trainer said, "it takes discipline and hard work for results". But I agree with Crystal Matthews when she said to try a low car protein shake. Those help out alot... You should try Syntha 6 (made by BSN), it is some great stuff. I wish you best of luck and stay strong. :D

Congratulations on all your hard work. You're absolutely right about how dropping weight can help you with your running. I can fluctuate up and down by five pounds, and even with an extra five pounds, I run so much slower! As the weight comes off, you will feel lighter and lighter when you run. It's awesome. I noticed you said you don't eat anything after 6:00. Since I don't know what time you go to bed this might not be a problem, but if you get to bed around the normal 10:00 time this might be harmful to your goals. When I try to cut weight, I won't have any carbs after 4:00, but in order to keep my metabolism going I still eat lean protein and veggies. Basically, your body should never be hungry because then it just works against you and holds on to the fat. That's why so many people will drink a low-carb protein shake right before bed. Nutrition can be so confusing, and I definitely have a lot to learn, but hopefully this helps. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!

Hey, you can do it! It sounds like you have the support system in place as well (i.e. friends, community, etc.). Dieting is not easy. I am like you in that I find myself the weakest late at night when I am bored. Sometimes I try to tell myself just to go to bed so that I do not give in to temptation! :) I believe Beast (http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/Beast/) offers free training programs that are designed specifically for you. Hit him up and see if he can help you out. Good luck in attaining your goals!

I know one thing that helped me when i had to take the PT tests was intervals. I could manage the time and you sort of got small rests during the run. start at a good steady pace and then after 2 minutes kick it up a couple notches and go for another 2 minutes. Try this out and see before the test and see if it picks up ou time. You can do it. Just remember the little engine who could. Thin you can
