Blog Entry

Began training and dieting for the upcoming tryouts for the USA national mens Rugby team.  I haven’t been at my playing weight since leaving France in 2005 and boy do I miss eating.  I am keen to stay around 100kg till my return from the two test series against Japan, I just dropped below that weight today but hopefully over the next two weeks before I leave for camp I can put on two or three kg’s of muscle.  We had tests for our 40yd dash and a beep test today, clocked a very sluggish 4.85 on my first run before hitting a 4.55 then a 4.30, all done by hand so give or take a few.  The beep test is torture, anyone who has done it knows what I am talking about.  For taller athletes like myself the stop and turn in the early stages are extremely draining in the legs, by the time we hit level 10 i was praying for a drop out so i wouldn’t have to be first.  I plugged away through to a 12.8, 8 beeps pass the cut off for my position.  I leave with the other east coast boys for Salt Lake City on the 29th of October, so if anyone is out and about in salt lake and wants to watch some rugby let me know.

 Cheers

Dan
