7 Weeks!

Well, about hit the 7 week mark.  If you have been reading my blog you will know that I have been a bit stressed out with my progress.  In lieu of this, I have made a few changes in my diet and work out program. I have implimented a high/low regimen alternating 2 days of high carb and 2 days of low carbs in order to try and shock my body into recognizing something different.  As I have not seen a drop in weight yet, I can definitely see some things changing.  I tend to build muscle very quickly in my lower body most of which has taken place in my quads and hamstrings over this past year.  I am really trying to focus on not overbuilding my legs and being unproportioned to my upper body.  I have incorporated some plyo-metrics in with my regular cardo sessions and have really amped up my cardio.  As I said before, some things are starting to change.  I plan to post some progress photos at 6 weeks out so I am really trying to hit it hard between now and then.  Check on me, I need to be accountable to someone other than myself!!!

Still training hard and dieting hard core.  Starting to really see some changes, Finally!!  I received some exciting news the other day and thought that I would share.  IFBB Fitness Pro Shannon Dey writes an article monthly in the Southern Muscle Plus Magazine focusing on athletes in the Southeast Region.  I am pleased to announce that she has chosen to feature me in the next edition.  The article will focus on my surgery and training for the upcoming show post surgery and the challenges it has presented.  I am excited!   For those of you who have access to the magazine, look for me in the upcoming edition!!

8 1/2 Weeks!!

Well, here I am 8 1/2 weeks out from competition.  Time to kick it up to the next level.  I feel a little behind schedule so it is important that I make the most of the weeks I have left.  Still doing the two-a-days in the gym and still doesn’t feel like it’s enough!  I have a lot more on my plate this year than I did last year.  I could pretty much work out as often and whenever time of the day I wanted to last year.  Not this time around!  Work is a lot more demanding and surgery got me behind schedule so I am going into it with a few more challenges this year.  I am determined to stay focused and give it my all.  Tonight I will head off to the gym to work the hamstrings and calves and throw in some more cardio!  Woo Hoo!!!  I’m ready!!

Two-A-Days

Well I have finally reached the point in my training where I have to do those two-a-days at the gym!  Up at 5:30am and off I go to do cardio and abs then back again tonight to weight train.  Hams and calves tonight.  Makes for such a long day when you have work in between.  I won’t make it home until about 7:30pm and then I will be ready for bed after my meal!!  Ask me again why I do this…. because I love the way it makes me look and feel!!  Just under 10 weeks to go to competition date!!!  Seems so close yet feels so far away!

Time to focus!!!

Jeez, I didn’t realize it had been so long since I posted last!!  Guess it’s time for an update.  Two weeks into my diet for my next competition and I have to admit, I have been struggling with it a bit this time.  I have only been about 85% and need to be at a strong 100% by this Saturday… putting me at 10 weeks out from competition day!  With my surgery in November and then the holidays, it just really threw me off track and it has been difficult to get back on!  I have been putting off the progress pictures as well, I plan to take some at 8 weeks out and maybe post them here… depends on the progress!!  I know I can do it.. I just need to bust my @ss!!!  Wish me luck and look for my progress photos coming soon!  Any comments or suggestions welcome!!
