Fatherhood and Fitness
So my son is 8 weeks old and work is back in full swing. Things are settling down, and I'm getting the diet and exercise back under control. Unfortunately since he was born I've gained over 10 lbs, due to late night stress eating, holidays, etc. I totally take responsibility for the poor diet, and that's a big part of the problem. What I'm wondering is how do you get the weight loss going and back to making strength gains when you're only getting 5-6 hours of inturrupted sleep? I'm going to nail the diet this week and hope the lack of sleep and added stress doesn't undo all my efforts.
Take power naps! I do that sometimes when I'm feeling especially exhausted. Power nap = a max of 20 min./no more than 30 min. If you sleep longer than 30 min. you'll feel absolutely drained and your hopes of exercise are down the tube! However, when I take power naps, I wake up and have a short burst of energy, that'll help you get a workout in for about an hour and a half. I also try to eat healthy throughout the day; small meals throughout the day. The more junk you eat the crappier you'll feel. I've noticed now that I'm fully on my diet, I feel better, cause I eat better! Congrats on becoming a new daddy, and the best of luck to you!!!:)

I know where you are coming from. My son was born 11/18/2008 so he is roughly the same age as your child.
I gained a little bit more weight than you during my wife's pregnancy and subsequent weeks.
What has helped me to shed those pounds is outlining a plan of attack. I wrote down my goals for the upcoming year and broke them down into bite size chunks. For example, 2-3 days per week, I will commit to an aerobic workout lasting 30-45 minutes. From there I have a stair step plan because my quarterly goal is to complete a 5K in the summer.
Thus, write down your long term goal and break it down into "baby" steps.

Aw, this was a really good post. In theory I’d like to write like this also - taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get anything done....
