So I was talking to a friend today about embarassing/funny momets we have had at the gym and I thought this would be a fun thing to share with other. So here is the weirdest thing that happened while I was at my gym.
Last year I was working for 24 hour fitness in Billings, MT when I got called to the locker room by the site manager. Apparently a man was having chest pains and they wanted me to go in and check to see if he was alright. I told the person at the front desk to call 911 and get an ambulance just in case. When I entered the locker room, I found the man sitting on the bench clasping his chest and breathing heavily. He said that he was having pains, but that he was starting to feel better and asked if I would call his wife (which I did).
Now, I don’t know about the other gyms in the world, but at my gym the older gentlemen have a tendency to stand around in the locker room naked talking to eachother for extended periods of time. And wouldn’t you know it, but just then 2 female EMT’s arrived to check on the man with the chest pains. I myself am not very body shy, but if two young ladies came into the locker room I would probably grab a towel or at least put on my tighty whiteys to cover my goody bag out of respect for them and the job they are doing. Unfortunatly I was alone in this beleif because wouldn’t you know it as the ladies worked on the man a large group of older naked men began to circle around the action. Can you imagine being a 20-30 year old woman trying to do your "life saving" job while 20 wrinkled old penises stared you in the face.
In an attempt to help I said "Maybe we should give theses ladies some space to work" which must have sounded like "Hey everyone else who currently has their penis out come over here and circle around these poor women"!!!! I even asked a man who was just about to stick his privates into one of the ladies ears to go put something on and I swear to god he grabbed his wife beater shirt (which as you can guess does not cover a penis) and went right back to where he was standing.
Well the man ended up being fine and the ladies left with red cheeks from the embarassment/laughter. To this day everytime I enter the locker room and see the naked circles of old men talking about their workouts, or medications, or whatever old men talk about I can’t help but laugh.

I started taking Nitro Tech Hardcore 2 weeks ago when I firsted started my weight gaining goals and I have to say that it is the $#!T. I have put on 8 lbs in the last 2 weeks and I have never felt stronger in my life. I will be adding Cell Tech this week on a recommendation from one of my friends (trainer) who said it should help with my muscle development.
The week has started out well with a good chest day (feeling very sore). I am looking forward to the rest of the week and hope that the rest of you out there are enjoying training as much as I am!!! Good Luck to everyone.

I hope that I am not the only person who suffers the pain of old injuries. In my younger years I felt that if I didn’t push myself past my limits I would never succeed. In many aspects this was the reason I was successful in most of my endevours, but it is also the reason I wake up sore and unable to move in the mornings. I would love some insight on what measures I should take to reduce the amount of soreness and aching I feel each day.
The workouts have been going well and I have been feeling alot stronger, especially in my legs, chest, and back. My arms feel like they are lagging a little behind so I am planning on setting aside a day to just focus on arms instead of implementing them during back and chest days. My weight has steadily increased over the past two weeks and i am nearly back up to 185 lbs. Tomorrow is leg day so I am streatching as we speak and getting ready for the pain. I hope that everyone else is having as much fun as I am getting back into or staying in shape. It is a life altering experience!!!

Today was leg day (AHHHHH) and I have to say that it may be the first time that I have been excited about training my legs. I have 2 lifting partners now and the encouragement and motivation I get from those guys makes it easier to get through a tough workout so Kudos to the boys!!!
Anyway, I think I broke what in my opinion should be a cardinal rule of bodybuilding "No eggs before legs". being a former track and field athlete I have been through leg workouts that would make the strongest men in the world lose their lunch and today was no exception. I got up early to shower, stretch, and eat before what is usually the hardest workout day of the week. Unfortunatly I was so excited that I went ahead and ate my 6 eggs and oatmeal this morning without a second thought. Half way through the workout I realized that maybe I should have made a better choice with my meal preperation. Needless to say I had to make more than one run to the garbage can to make sure I didn’t ruin the nice equipment. And Eggs, although tasty and nutritious, sure taste better going down.
My new diet and workout program have been going smooth so far and i am up two pounds from the beginning of the week (Sunday 181 lbs Thursday 183lbs). Hopefully I will keep on trucking and actually be ahead for once in my life. I have to say that I am really enjoying writing these blogs on the body space, getting feedback, and meeting new people. This is a wonderful site that is helping me to stay motivated. I will hopefully be positng my week one pics soon (if I can get my stupid camera to work) so check back with me later.

Last night when I was driving home from work I noticed that I past a large number of fast food restaraunts. Today I decided that it would be funny to count how many "Fast Food" (Not just restaraunts) places I pass on the drive from my home to the gym. In addition I wanted to see how many gyms and health food stores I passed. My grand total was 14 fast food restaraunts including, 1 Wendy’s, 1 Burger King, 1 McDonalds, 1 A&W’s, 2 Subways, 2 Pizza Huts, 1 Papa John’s, 1 Hardees (right across from my gym), 1 Taco John’s, 1 Taco Treat, 1 Dounut Brothers, and 1 Howard’s Pizza. The worst part is I passed no other gyms and only one health food store (the only one in town!!!).
It is no wonder to me that we are the most obese nation in the world. I can walk out my door and trip over a Big Mac, but I have to drive almost 10 miles to find a gym.

To start this blog I first have to tip my hat to the people who have been in the fitness field year in and year out. I have been living this life style for about 6 months give or take and I can’t beleive the effort it takes to eat right (planning meals and making food), working out (cardio, weights, etc), and still having the time to be with a family.
I have been through the first two workouts this week and all I can say is "Oh My God"!!! I don’t remember being this sore in a long time. My chest back and arms are feeling so tight I don’t even want to move and I absolutely love it. I am so excited about getting myself back into shape that I am actually ecstatic to be in pain. At my official weigh-in on Monday (02/11/2008) I was actually at 181lbs (4lbs less than expected) which menas I will need to add 19lbs not 15.
So Here is my question for the experts who I know are roaming around this site. Why do so many people come to the gym to take up space and talk???? I never really noticed it before, but I had to wait 10 minutes to finish my workout because some @$$#o<& was actually sitting on the equiptment I needed talking on his cell phone. The last time I checked if you wanted to talk on the phone you would leave the room or in even the gym. Anyway I got so annoyed that I actually changed the weight while he was sitting on the machine and scooted him out of the way. He gave me a nasty look, but then left the room to finish his conversation. I think we should write an ammendment to the constitution that states if you didn’t come to the gym to work out go the F^*& Home!!!!
Finally I want to ask all you "Big Boys" out there how in the world can you eat this much food? I started my new diet today which includes 6 meals and a total of 225 grams or protein a day. At my best before I never ate more that 2-3 times and, even though my meals are smaller, I am having trouble putting this much food away. My trainer told me that it will take a little time to get used to, but eating the smaller meals is supposed to boost my metabolism and make it easier fir me to lift the weights. WOW, I will never be hungry again.
I will be posting my day one pics at the end of the week so check me out and drop me some workout tips if you got em’

I have to say that this may be the most excited I have been since Christmas Morning as a child. I have been working out on a consistant basis for the last year and a half, but have never really sat down and thought about what my real goals are. Looking back at my pictures from the 2006 olympia I realized that I have put on about 15 lbs from that show to the 2007 O. My goal starting on Monday is to add an additional 15 lbs of muscle before the show this year (I will be at an even 200 lbs). As you can see from my picks I have a very slight build and I am what most peopel would call a "hard gainer" so for me adding this additional weight will be a huge challange.
I have spent the last two days picking up my food for the week (God Bless Costco), buying my supplements, and working with my friend (personl trainer for 24 hour fitness) on writing a program and diet for the next month (I will post the workout here in the next few days).
Monday is Chest and Biceps (by far my weakest bodyparts) so I will be checking back in and hopefully posting some day one pics then. I know that there is a wealth of knowledge on this site so feel free to chime in and give me any pointers, tips, or suggestions you might have. Thanks for your help and prayers on this new endevour!

During my Track career in Nebraska I sustained several injuries to my legs including breaking my fibula and tibia on both legs. My fibula (weight bearing bone) never quite healed corrently due to some improper care on my part. Since the injuries I have had problems controlling weight when I try to squat and even while using the leg press machine. I am hoping that someone might be able to give me some ideas on different leg exercises that won’t put as much pressure on these areas. My legs are starting to lag behind my upper body.
