Calling all diet gurus…

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

I’ve spent most of the week trying to tweak my diet.  I’ve gotten a lot of great advice & this is what I put together.  I’d REALLY appreciate it if you all would take another look & tell what you think as I’d like to start it tomorrow.  Keep in mind I’m trying to lose a bunch of weight & gain muscle.  This should round out at about 1200-1400 calories depending on how much whey I drink & what type of lean meat I choose.  THANK YOU! =)

Breakfast - 1 egg & 4 egg whites (or) 1/2 c oatmeal with a few raisins

Mid morning - 1 scoop whey & a serving of almonds or walnuts

lunch - 4-6 oz lean meat, large salad (or) 1 c raw veggies, 1/2 c brown rice (or) 4 oz sweet potato

afternoon - 2 scoops whey

dinner - 4-6 oz lean meat, salad or 1 c steamed veggies

Sometimes I make myself mad…

Friday, May 30th, 2008

The last two days I’ve not been good on my diet.  I have no real idea why, maybe because I finally broke thru my plateau I thought I could misbehave.  While I’m completely agrravated I did this, especially knowing how bad I want this transformation…I also realize I can’t let this weigh me down & have to start fresh today.  Thankfully I’m only up a pound & I know I can work that off.  I was told becuase my diet was so low carb it would make you want to binge…but that sounds like an excuse for the real reason of I just let my guard down & let my priorities slip.  So back on the wagon today, I’ve changed my diet a little to add a bit of complex carbs.  A typical day will now look like :

Breakfast - packet of regular oatmeal w/a few raisins, 1 egg & 2 egg whites

mid-morning - whey

lunch - chicken or tuna & veggies & 1/2c brown rice

afternoon - whey

dinner - chicken or lean meat with 1 cup of broccoli/cauliflower

Does that look a little better? Would love to know what you think or will gladly take suggestions! =)

I shocked myself…

Here I am complaining I’m in a plateau & the scales haven’t budged.  So i decide to measure myself.  The last time I measured was 5-19-2008.  since then I had lost almost another 3" from my total body measurements!  Wow!  Didn’t know that was possible but am assuming I’m gaining muscle mass which is why the numbers aren’t changing on the scale.  I need to learn to not focus on what the scale says.  As long as I continue on with what I’m doing, I’m getting results.  Inches matter more than numbers I guess since everyone sees the inches but not the number on my scale.  lol

Complaining

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

I’m down about 13lbs & have hit a plateau.  I’m really frustrated but am NOT NOT NOT going to let this get the best of me!  I have been working my tail off this weekend & am determined to work past this hurdle.  I can see my goal so clearly that I can almost taste it.  That said it still feels good to complain about it.  LMAO  Thanks for listening! =)

tell me what you think…

I would love to hear what you all have to say about what I’m doing to get started!  I am exercising on a 2 week cycle so that in that time I work every group at least 3x’s.

Week 1

  • sun - off
  • Mon - chestm triceps, biceps & cardio
  • Tues - Back Shoulders Abs & Cardio
  • Wed - Legs & Cardio
  • Thurs - Abs & cardio
  • Fri - Chest, triceps biceps & cardio
  • Sat - back, shoulder & Abs

Week 2

  • Sun- off
  • Mon- legs, abs & cardio
  • Tues - cardio
  • Wed - chest biceps triceps abs & cardio
  • thur - back, shoulders & abs
  • fri - legs & cardio
  • Sat- off

Basically my cardio involves a 1.5 mile walk up & down hill doing lunges for extra muscle gain.

My diet consists of 4 egg white & 1 whole egg for breakfast, chicken & broccoli for lunch, 12 oz of whey, then chicken & veggie for dinner.  I do sometime substitute cottage cheese (1/2 c) for the veggie.  It’s roughly about 1100 calories.  Keeping in mind I have to loose a lot of fat as well as gain muscle.  I prefer to do this naturally without supplements too.

So what do you all think?  Am I on track?  Totally screwing it up or what?  Thanks for your help & support!

Just starting…

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

A little about myself, I used to be quite athletic but like so many…kids & life got in the way.  My best friend Penny started training last year for a figure show & asked me to be her coach.  Part of me was excited, the other part terrified.  My self esteem was at an all time low & she wanted me to help her?  Figuring it wasn’t about me, I went ahead & said yes.  Boy am I glad I did!  She competed at her first show last weekend and what a rush!  I caught the bodybuilding fever!  Repeatedly her trainer & others told me I could do bodybuilding but I didn’t believe them.  Then I heard some of their stories & how some started out just as heavy as me & lost too.  I decided I better start listening & give myself the gift of good health.  So far I’m down 13.1 lbs this month and still going…wish me luck & i hope to find people who are willing to support me thru this life changing event.
