NEW YEAR! Focusing on nutrition……..
Ok - I was 155 before holidays. 160 after holidays. I’ve been reading all these posts about eating 5-6 times a day and eating clean. After one week of this I am now 164.
I know my nutrition needs much improvement. I’ve always been the type to skip breakfast, maybe eat lunch, and then eat a big dinner. Also, usually have eaten just whatever I wanted. Last year I was working out 4 hours a day and seemed to stop making improvements. I know nutrition was a bigggggg missing key for me. I pretty much just stopped working out around October. Life got busy, childrens church christmas play, and I wasnt progressing…
So NEW YEAR - I’m refocused and more determined. I’ve been trying the eating breakfast bit that everyone here swears by. Mostly this week I was eating vanilla yogurt with 1 scoop protein mixed in before I worked out. I discovered yesterday the yogurt had lots of sugar and fat in it. This morning I ate instant oatmeal instead.
Lunches - salads, loaded baked potates, and whatever on salad bar - like tuna pasta salad and pea salad. After reading the nutrition posts I’m discovering all that was bad and needs MORE cleaning up. Like no pasta, no loaded potato, stop the ranch and the oil dressing even (!) due to added sugar and sodium and fructose. Ouch.
Lunch is big issue since I have to watch everyone else I am with eat hamburgers and fries. Because of me, everyone has to pick a place with a salad bar. I dont feel too deprived though because I tell myself they would all look really scary in swimsuits.
Todays lunch I did MUCH better - home today so I ate a pita sandwich with DELI turkey, tomatoes, spinach leaves, and mustard. Also had cottage cheese - which I’ve always loved.
Then I got plain lowfat/no sugar yogurt and added the protein for meal 3.
All was well today. Felt good. My muscles seem leaner and more defined. I’ve GAINED four pounds though this week with all the extra eating. I’ll chalk it up to the sugary yogurt and all the no-no’s at lunch. Plus cheated last night at the movies and had GOOBERS. ![]()
Tonite though… AGH! Hubby made this nutritious meal JUST FOR ME. Chicken stew with lots of veggies and spinach salad. It was great and we had lots of company. Then he comes out with plates and plates of home made chocolate chip cookies. I didnt eat just one either. Im still sulking. That was hours ago.
Now I feel fat and bloated. All this focusing on food. I’ve been preaching to my kids as I watch them eat their processed cereals and cokes….. Then I eat those cookies. Wouldnt be sooo bad if I hadn’t already considered LAST NITE my cheat night.
Hubby took "before" pictures of me beginning of week. HA. NO WAY am I posting them until I have MAJOR improvements. He sure knows how to take some BAD pictures! lol cant be ME FOR REAL. No way. Denial is first step…. lol
ok ….end of week one.
