diet books

An important thing that is not discussed in most diet books,  is that to reach a fitness goal, there is always  some level of hard work and sacrifice involved.  It seems few are willing to step forward and speak that very real truth.  Everyone wants to hear that you can eat ALL the foods you love while dieting and put in just a tiny amount of exercise, so that becomes the basis for the war of the diet books marketed to the masses.  It becomes a contest of who can tell everyone what they want to hear?  For example,.. you can eat cookies on my diet!  or You can eat anything you want on my diet and lose a lot of weight using a magic secret.  It is madness.

Isn’t any goal, (no matter what it is) acheived by some level of  hard work and sacrifice?  Not by doing the ‘least amount possible’ which would be the theme in so many of the diet books?

I think I’ll write a diet book called get fit with Poptarts, M&M’s, and booze. ( It won’t work though.)

You should still write the book. You’d make a freakin’ fortune. BTW - You look amazing and thank you for doing the 30’s justice. Hopefully by the end of the year I will have a body I can be proud of too!

  2. mysteriouslady Says:

lol…if that were the case (eating junk that is) we would all be perfectly fit. HAHA funny comment
    You look wonderful as always

  3. olesmokey Says:

You hit the nail on the head. Great pics, too.

  4. gymrat29 Says:

This is so very true. Just seeing those Jenny Craig commercials with Kirstie Alley and her talking about eating the chocolate cakes etc. and losing weight makes me laugh. She may have lost some pounds but losing weight and losing fat are completely different things. It’s not that simple. Good post.

  5. brent99 Says:

What do you mean you can’t get fit drinking booze?

  6. sbh2082 Says:

You couldn’t me more right, everyone wants the easy way out! Nice post! :)

  7. Mr.Mom Says:

Very true and well said ChickenTuna….

  8. nickortego Says:

Coming Soon! The No Secret Diet and Exercise Revolution. For those who want a better body but aren\’t willing to do what it takes! It\’s quick, easy, pain free. No uncomfortable lifestyle change involved. Available never in bookstores nowhere!

  9. dbear Says:

My problem with eating is translating the grams of protein to an actual portion size. Is there any information that will easily relate, for example, "12 grams of protein" into the correct size chicken breast?

  10. Train2Bfit Says:

CT… I couldn’t have said it any better. It’s a shame that many people don’t realize that true success in weightloss and fitness can only be achieved through hard work. And it sucks that there are so many companies out there trying to take advantage of those people by tickling their ears. Good point.

  11. scorpius Says:

jajajajajajaja, it is true , when a person really wants to improve in any area of her/his life it would do anything to investigate the true path she/he have to walk in order to achive the goal they have propouse.
everything in life that it’s hard to achive , it’s worth fighting for, and the reward will be glory.

  12. ten_sixety_six Says:

Just recently a friend joined a popular nationwide fitness/weight loss chain. This program has you do something similar to circuit training in groups. The thing that got me was that the counselors told her that she could eat anything that she wanted as long as she worked out three times a week. This is just not sound advice for someone that needs to loose 100lbs.

All of these programs, books and diets are designed for one thing and one thing only - the \"comeback\". They do not make money unless they can get repeat business. They structure things so that someone will loose a few pounds, feel happy but not be able to go much further. So then they buy another program thinking that it bust be the right thing to do since they lost a few pounds on the first program.

My personal opinion is that most of these \"centers\" are just scamming people. Find yourself a good personal trainer that also is versed in the nutritional aspect of body transformation and that works out of a normal gym.

If a weight loss center will not tell you about their program until you join, don\’t.

    so true
the diet industry is built on failure, its product is flawed and diets alone dont work.
i explain this to my clients and emnaphsis the triangle, diet, excercise and rest, take on side away and your going to find it extremely difficult to achive your goals.

    excellent post

  14. oldark Says:

Amen! Seems no matter how hard people workout, do cardio, etc., it’s always the diet that is the real culprit. So many of my friends are in the gym with me each morning (this morning was no exception), yet all complain about no gains. But then when you dig, you find out pizza for lunch and beer for dinner isn’t exactly gonna do the trick!!!

  15. BuffedWildCat Says:

Kinda late on this one, but oh well.

Yep, that is SO true of all the popular fad diets out there. Personally, I\’ve always been right up front with my clients and anyone else who inquires about what it takes to acquire a lean and strong physique. I\’ve always been pretty blunt and I don\’t sugar-coat anything. I let them know that there are no short cuts and that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get the kind of results that are envied by others. All those advertisements for the latest fad diet or some piece of workout equipment just drive me nuts because they are VERY deceiving! Grrrrr.

  16. jmhall Says:

I completely subsist on a diet of marshmellow creme, pumpkin pie, and mint chocolate chip ice cream…oh wait that was my dream last night.

You make NC even more beautiful, keep up the good work!

  17. get*it*done23 Says:

You couldn’t have put in better words. I have hear people all the time talking about getting on the latest fad diet and how they will lose the weight (muscle) and then eat clean, yea right! I totally agree with you and your last blog was great also. You’re not lucky, you’re dedicated.

  18. no1stunna Says:

whatever it is that YOU do that is a diet, keep doing it; and, keep wearing those shoes while you do it.

  19. Animal242 Says:

    LOVE THE BLOG LOOKING GOOD

  20. Stuckniraq Says:

I guarantee you would have people buying your book. "Look honey It the new PopTart Diet book"!….LOL

  21. Big Ass Bulker Says:

Yes, all goals are met by sacrifice and hard work - which makes them all the more rewarding!

  22. losefatnotfaith Says:

I agree 100%. Too many diet and exercise books. That’s why when I published my book, I focused first on what I think is the main key: mindset. I covered nutrition and training, but not once will you see "You must eat this" or do that. Too many people succeed on different programs to say that one way is superior. Instead, learn the spectrum of foods and then find out what works best for your lifestyle, body type, and schedule.

You should certainly write a book. When I started the journey to publish mine, I often asked myself, "In a market with SO many books about living healthy, how could a new product possibly compete?" But the truth is when you write a book, you put a bit of your own energy into it. No one is exactly like you, and your words will connect and inspire people in ways that others cannot … there is always room for more positive energy spread to the cause of helping people realize they CAN be in charge of their body and their dreams.

Best of health, success, and abundance,

    Jeremy Likness

"I think I’ll write a diet book called get fit with Poptarts, M&M’s, and booze. ( It won’t work though.) " But people will still buy it! lol

  25. AlMovement Says:

CT, I couldn’t agree more. I get the line all the time about how "lucky" I am that I’m thin. I don’t feel so "lucky" eating 300g of lean protein a day. Four cans of tuna don’t exactly hit the spot when your craving a bagel. Eating healthy takes a bit of effort but its not really a monumental effort. Eating a five pound sack of river rocks…that’s monumental. Dangling precariously from a tattered rope swing whilst flogging oneself with a barbed coil, that’s monumental. Keep up the phenomenal fitness (and cursing).

  26. farangtlsw Says:

HAHA. I do agree I wish I could eat all the ice-cream and still looking lean. But that won’t do surely.

  27. WISHINGCLANCY Says:

You know I think I have tried every diet in the world that has been offered. Hi Carb, Low Carb, low fat , and the starve yourself to you go into a dibetic comma diet. And you are right when you finally open your eyes and relize that If you want the body of your dreams it means eating clean good food and a working your !@$# off. No one can do it for you and you cant do it for anyone else either. you have to do it for your self.
My favorite saying is there is no impossible dreams just our limited perception of what is possible. So with a little hard work and dedication anything is possible even having the body you always dreamed of.
BY THE WAY FANTASTIC ABS GIRL!

  28. jsewell0203 Says:

I want you to know that I love all the sacrifices you are making. Every single one. From my vantage point it appears to be worth all the effort.

    Do you ever go hiking?

  29. Eden Says:

That is so true. You spoke like someone whose tried every diet out there. I haven’t tried every diet, but that’s because the only diet I believe in is the kind where you’re preparing for a shotoshoot or a contest. Other than that its the way of life diet.
So how do you stay so lean. Do you have something that you’ve written up that’s your daily food intake and workout? That would be cool to see.

  30. Dane6k6 Says:

I couldn’t agree more. I have a question for you and anyone else reading this. Why aren’t the best dieters on the planted ever consulted about losing fat and weight? You know who I’M talking about, bodybuilders. No one on the planet knows better how to lose fat effectively than bodybuilders. I think that they all get lumped into the same mold as those giant steroid eating monsters with muscles that are so over blown that they no longer look like muscles. There are a lot of lean, muscular bodybuilders both men and women that have retained muscular structure and lost great deal of body fat. But when is the last time you have seen some like that shown on TV for healthy living? It is people like the Subway man or ex-football / Baseball players that are always showcased. When is the last time you’ve seen any of them with their shirts off? I think bodybuilding and fitness in general do a bad job of getting their information out.

  31. bonniebeautiful Says:

I love it! It’s so true! Thanks for a few laughs! Keep up the good work

  32. brent99 Says:

"I think I’ll write a diet book called get fit with Poptarts, M&M’s, and booze. ( It won’t work though.) "

I don’t know, for a lot of people, it might work fine as long as its poptarts for breakfast, m&ms for lunch, and booze for dinner. You could certainly lose weight on this diet! We should get together and work out the physics. I have a hunch it wouldn’t be very anabolic, but who cares about muscle….it just makes you weigh more!!!!

  33. brennenlesser Says:

it would be a top seller, do it!

  34. ckkphoto Says:

I feel like your holding back….what do you REALLY think…HAHAHAHA! ;-) ) We have a "no whining" sign in our house. The kids hate it.

  35. thatchthecatch Says:

Everyone in this lazy ass country just wants a magic pill that makes their years of bad eating, and lack of exercise magically transform their obese bodies
into beautiful, toned ones! here, eat everything you want, and still lose weight! If you didn’t gain all the damn weight in the first place, you wouldn’t have to lose it then, would you? Never thought of that one folks! Hey while you’re at it, aren’t their belts that make you have six pack abs?

  36. Jenn Says:

WoW! I am 23 and scared to death about looking like crap in my thirties! You give me more than hope that I can look great through my twenties, thirties, forties, and so on. Thank you for telling it like it is. It’s not fun to hear, nor to have to realize, but you are SO motivational!

  37. ccs77 Says:

Your hilarious….I think you should publish "Get fit with Poptarts, M&M’s and Booze". If the ultra fun and easy to use Thigh master can tone your whole body in just 2 minutes a day why wouldn’t Poptarts, M&M’s and Booze work? LOL

    Another good blog CT….Keep’m coming

  38. hollyg Says:

I am so sick of hearing people try this diet and that diet at work Just go workout!! Everyone wants the easy way out.

  39. swirly_79 Says:

hell yea, let the truth out! Its hard looking this damn good, OKAY! People get grossed out by what you eat but they can’t help but wonder why you have a nice body, go figure!

  40. mundos_kook2 Says:

It’s kinda like that new show that’s on, the one where the guy talks to people and they are supposed to get thin. I think it’s called "I’ll make You Thin" or something. It’s like stop being lazy, get off your @$$ and go do some cardio or try eating a banana instead of a brownie.

  41. vaberella Says:

It won’t work but it would be on the best sellers list for a period of time. You can write at the end of the final page on the last line…

    SIKE!!

You hit that nail on the head. I was a fool and bought my fair share of diet books. Just doing the basics, eating clean and eating small and eating high protein and working out hard.

  42. Man_O Says:

You’ll sell a million copies of your Pop Tarts and M&Ms diet book!
