Day One!

June 2, 2009

So today I figured out that if you have your gym clothes and protein shake already to go in your car when you drive home from work, you are more likely to go to the gym.  Duh!  Last night I did a little preparation and it paid off today!

Went for a nice 2 mile run today and my ankle felt great!  Plus did a circuit training routine that I found in Oxygen.  I’ve been doing it for 2 weeks and I can already tell a difference in my arms :)

Now just enjoying my turkey chili!

P.S. Does anyone have any clean slow cooker recipes???

At the beginning again . . .

June 1, 2009

So it has been a hard couple of months in terms of my weight loss.  Mid March when I was starting to train for my first 5k I sprained my right ankle.  Because of this I was unable to do any kind of cardio - running, elliptical, bike, etc.  b/c everything put pressure on the ankle.  Walking hurt!  I wore a brace for about a month.  In that time got REALLY lazy with workouts and eating.  Gained a few pounds.

After a wake up call from the boyfriend I finally made some adjustments.  I have been eating alot cleaner and just started running again.  It feels great and I have lost about 4 pounds so far!

So new goal is 6 pounds by July 4!  Hopefully I will run my first race by the end of the summer.  Hopefully no more injuries!

Project Bridesmaid Body!

September 2, 2008

So rough weekend . . .my parents and brother drove from Michigan and it was nothing but good times and good food. Then Sunday I found out my best friend is getting married!  So that means looking good in her wedding :)   I have this uncanny feeling she is going to pick strapless dresses.  So I figured I was already starting to get in shape and this gives me a goal!  Need to defintely work on the upper body - lose flab and define some muscles so I don’t look like a line backer in the dress :)

Rough Day

August 17, 2008

So I was on call last night at the hospital and long story short didn’t get to bed until about 7am this morning.  But it comes with the job.  Did not feel like doing anything today.  I did drag myself out of bed and went grocery shopping and did prepare some meals for the week.  I know that if I don’t prepare I will just want to drive through somewhere.  I also went for a run and it was wonderful.  I have definitely noticed a change in energy and endurance since I started consistently working out again.  Love it!

Chocolate Muffins

August 16, 2008

So I was given this recipe from a friend who was doing Weight Watcher’s.  I added the protein powder and have it with a glass of skim milk after my workouts.  Let me know if you tried it or if it really is that healthy for you!

 Chocolate Muffins

1 box of chocolate cake mix

i can of pure pumpkin (ex. Libby’s)

1 scoop of chocolate protein powder

Mix the cake mix, pumpkin, and protein powder together in a bowl  Do NOT add any of the ingredients from the recipe on the cake mix box.  NO oil, eggs, etc.

You can either divide the batter into muffins tins lined with cupcake liners or spread in a 13" x 9" pan.  Cook at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.  They are SUPER moist and very satisfying if you have a sweet tooth like me!

Getting Back In The Saddle

August 16, 2008

So when I signed up a few months ago I was doing great.  Learning to eat clean and working out consisently.  I was starting to see definition and losing fat.  Then life got in the way.  I graduated from college, had a rocky spot with my boyfriend, got my first big girl job, and moved 1000 miles away from my family and friends, literally.  During that, eating clean and working out went right out the window and my body went down hill.  I know it sounds clique but drive-thoughs and sitting on the couch were much easy to do then driving to the gym.

So in the past few weeks I have finally gotten things back in order.  I have been cooking at home and taking my lunch every day to work.  You would think a hospital cafeteria would have healthy food but it doesn’t.  I allow myself one cheat meal on Friday nights.  It makes me work hard during the week.  I have been working out pretty consistently 5-6 times a week doing 3-4 days of weights and 2-3 days of cardio.  Lovin’ it!  I’m starting to get back to where I was before my land slide.

This would account for the 1 pound weight loss.  I was excited to finally be below my starting weight for once.  So my new goal for right now is 10 lbs. by the end of October.  That’s when I’ll be making the drive back to Michigan to see my family and friends and I wanna look good!  Plus I think it averages out to a healthy loss of about 1-2 pounds per week.  Wish me luck!!
