Maybe it's just the placebo effect. People believe because they're taking the next best thing that they're going to get incredible results, which leads to better workouts and results. I'm guilty. I get excited about trying something new. I do strongly believe in protein shakes though. Got to get your protein each day! It's hard to eat enough whole foods to get what you need each day.

Other than whey and a good multivitamin I have never really been into the whole supplement thing, honestly due to lack of knowledge. However, recently it has been suggested to try a couple of new products that I have incorporated into my training, and I can't believe the difference in strength I have seen in using Creatine...holy WOW! I've been on it for a little over three weeks already and love it. I plan to use it for a 6-8 total week cycle. I'll let you know how it goes. I've heard ppl that hate creatine/supplements and some that swear by them, I guess its all about how you personally feel about them and if they don't work for you then its def. not worth the money to waste. A lot of the diff. products seem very hyped up to me and a lot of gimmicks out there, so I'm very careful about who I get my information from.

You know, I've never been into them either...not because I wasn't curious or anything, but because I had a hard time keeping up on them. I can't count how many jugs of protein or creatine I've wasted because I would buy them, take them for maybe three days, then just kind of forget to start taking them. So I can basically say, the point I'm at right now is completely done without supplemental help.

Now the problem is I've kind of hit that point where my weight won't change, and my body doesn't seem to be changing much either. My strength has been going up significantly since I've gotten here to Taji, Iraq, but no visual results (at least as far as I can tell). So I decided for the first time in my life, I'm going to legitimately try using whey and caseine proteins to see what happens.

At the same time I'm here with a guy that swears by supplements. You should see the locker FULL of the stuff that he has and takes on a daily basis, and I've got to tell you, he's a big mofo. I'd say he's probably 6'0, 240 pounds of ALMOST solid muscle (he has a little bit of pudge to him) and lifts like a monster. When you see guys like that taking the stuff, it really makes you wonder. So I dunno, it could go either way...hell, whether or not they help might boil down to a person's body type and natural metabolism.

As far as I go, I should be getting my proteins delivered here in a few days. I'll give it a couple of months and get back to you on whether or not the stuff is worth a damn. Til then, keep pushin! Later.
